I have a friend who used one of these.  they came out ok, but it is definitely missing that ROASTED flavor that a a fire brings to it.

but if it gets you through the winter....  it is better than nothing !

I stab a marshmallow and light my propane stove to roast it, I eat smore's  a lot 8)

We've done smores in our fireplace at home over the winter. With natural wood, of course, never with the store bought fire logs. This does seem interesting though.
