Planning to go this weekend, but not sure if we'll be able to get a spot. It's Homecoming for University of Alabama, and our local campgrounds fill up very fast. Wish us luck! 🙂

Pat, be sure to fill us in on your trip.  Where is this park located?  Sounds like a great place.

missnanc, this park is located in Moundville, Al. It's about 10 miles south of University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. We've never stayed here before, (although we have visited the mounds)  but our church is holding a Halloween Party here for the kids on Saturday night. We just thought we'd check it out.

I'll let everyone know how it is. And I'll try to post pics. 🙂

Pat, when you go to check out this park, would you please see if the camping sites are shaded? That looks very interesting. There's a similar small campground at Kolomoki Mounds in southwest GA. We drove through the CG and went in the museum. Not too impressed with the CG, maybe a 7 on a scale of 10, but loved the museum and grounds. Very well done exhibits.

Well, we went to the campground and pulled into our site. Lovely, but rather primitive. No concrete pads, sort of difficult to figure out each site, but none of the rules and regulations of the bigger campgrounds. Very laid-back.
As it turns out, though, we couldn't stay. The Cable-Lift system on our popup broke, and we couldn't raise the top. Campground gave us a full refund.
When we got home, I called our camper serviceman, and he said it might not be worth repairing due to the age of our camper. (Not a job DH feels he can handle. We have no one to help us manually lift the roof so he can get in there and check it out himself)
So we have some major decisions to make here. And I'll update all my forum friends on what we decide to do.

I am so sorry that happened to you guys !

Kolomoki has been one of the SCOUT destinations on our PLANNING roster for trips.  we were even thinking of doing an overnighter there.  supposedly it is a MINI Grand Canyon.  I have never been

We've been to Kolomoki many times over the years. We used to live in Dothan, and at one time Dothan  City Schools took class trips to Kolomoki Mounds. We really liked it. But it's been over 20 years since we've been, and I don't know if the campgrounds have been maintained or not.

Pat, hope you can get the repair done so you both can get out and camp soon!

Judy, I hope we can get it repaired soon too. Because as I've said before, this is absolutely my favorite time of year to camp.

That's weird, 01, since I've been to Kolomoki and there are no canyons. There are, however, fields of mounds and a really nicely curated museum. As you enter the park, there is a public picnic area with a playground and swimming pool as well. I hope you get over there one day. It's a nice place.

I hate to hear that surgipat. I would have someone else look at repairing the lift system. If ours broke tomorrow I would fix it. The cost of a new one would be much more expensive than the repairs.
