that little kids running around all morning and evening, constantly SCREAMING, like they just cut their hand off or something, is very annoying? DW and I spent the weekend - Thursday thru Sunday morning at Greenbriar State Park, in Maryland. Beautiful park, clean, spacious. Looked like they had two sites on each of the four loops for camp hosts, and at least one was occupied on our loop. But these 3-5 kids running and playing (like they should be able to), but they kept screaming! The parents were in their site, looked to be a couple of families. Finally, on Sunday morning as we were packing up to go, and they were at it again, it was 8:30, I said out loud to myself SHUT UP! Well, I looked up and a woman was walking by on the road heading that general direction, and lo and behold, a few minutes later they stopped! (rant off)
Should I have handled this differently, not that I handled it at all? I mean, DW and I were gone during the day, doing the touristy thing at Gettysburg and Antietam. But in the evening, it was hard to relax with all the screaming going on. Should I have searched out the Host?
I have to disclose that I have a 2yo.
Tough spot. On one hand you should be able to enjoy your trip with peace and quiet and on the other hand the kids should be able to play tag, laugh, get excited over a bug or a frog. I don't know exactly what level they were screaming at. Yes, it can be annoying. I wouldn't let my kid scream all day but I wouldn't stop him from getting excited every now and then. I would suggest chatting kindly with the family. I can say that I am very conscious of how my child affects others around us, in a restaurant, in a store, etc. Kids will be kids (I am just waiting for him to call someone fat  ) but I try to not have the situation continue to the point of annoyance.
I think of kids screaming in a campground as if someone had a squeaky cooler lid. Annoying as heck, but it's going to happen in a campground.

IMO, it's really out of hand when parents let their kids scream constantly. I'm with Lone Lock that kids will be kids and get excited at things and probably scream, squeal, etc., and that's OK. When it goes on and on, it's not OK. You have to wonder if they're allowed to behave that way at home. I'd guess that they're not.
I think that a good way to handle it would be to talk to the host and let him handle it, because it does sound like it was too much. But, I'd have probably muttered something along the lines of your "shut up," too.
Everyone in the campground is entitled to enjoy their stay. Hopefully that can be done without or bothering anyone else.

I was just talking to my neighbor the other day about this. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when he told his daughter not to scream "like that", and that screaming that way is to only be used if she is hurt or in trouble. I hated it when I was growing up and I wasn't allowed to really scream in excitement when playing, but I really appreciate that my mom taught me that now!
Sure there's playing and yelling, and toddler squealing and screaming, but sometimes I sit in my house in the springtime and wonder if the neighborhood kid is being mauled by a dog, or just playing?
I thought about the camp host, but he was packed only 50 yards away and HAD to be aware.
M.H., I too was brought up like that. It's just not done anymore. It ain't "PC".
All in all, though, I still prefer state parks/army corps parks over "RV Parks". Cheaper on the wallet, and not so much nose in the air. Greenbriar is a beautiful setting. Even had 3 deer meet us at the entrance on Thursday evening.
