Well, as DW would say I finally have joined the modern world. Got rid of the flip phone and replaced it with an I phone. I'm looking to add some apps for weather info while camping and map/gps info. Any recommendations for good apps to look into?

I don't know about weather info, but I found one for PA state parks. It seemed like there was one for many of the States park systems.

Definitely get Waze, a GPS app. I LOVE it, it's user generated, so it will tell you where police are sitting and if there is traffic.

for tracking I like MOTION-X ( it is a versatile app that can be used for motorcycles, hiking, dirt trails, etc)

Here is a great app if you need good knots for camping hiking fishing boating etc its called: knot guide (free Knots) on the app store
also: multi-torch app has compass and flashlight with an SOS button that will actually continue to send an SOS moss code signal and strobe SOS until inactivated and its free one last app I like is Coleman's camp recipes for lots of camping recipes
