Had a branch fall onto my roof from the hurricane. Thank God that is all the damage we received. Here is some pics of the damage and repairs.

Looks like a perfectly timed mod to me!  Glad that was the only damage you had.

Ingenious way to fix the hole.

I like it. I want to put a vent in our roof, but dont have a reason other than I want to. Maybe I should park ours outside for a while ::).

It was very easy to do actually, only about a hour. It's in a odd spot, for a vent, but in the summer months it will be nice to let some heat out the roof.

I just have to apply some of the white roof paint come spring to the silver area of the vent that I applied to the rest of the roof before this last season. It sealed the roof perfectly and it reflects the sun. I was truly mad when I saw that branch. Prior to this last season I re-did the entire inside roof and sealed the outside. But a vent will serve it well.

The vent was about $50.00 at Stolzfus on Route 202 in West Chester, PA. They sold me the gray sealer tape too. I used a roto-zip to cut the hole, and had to modify the inside trim to fit. Only about a hour total.

Wow - never thought to fix a small hole with a much bigger hole!

I have a spare powered vent sitting in my PUP (has no roof vent in it) - guess just waiting for a hole to show up so I can install it!

Great fix. Goes along with the saying that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

nice fix.  are you concerned at all with it being so close to a corner/lift arm for stability of the roof itself?

Not really concerned with the structure. The roof on this older Coleman pup is made of a thin aluminium and foam and originally had a thin wood paneling for the inside roof. I had removed the wood paneling last season and installed a plastic boarding. Most of the structure and stablility seems to be in the sides of the roof cap.
