What is your camping resolution?

Everyone makes resolutions this time of year.  My resolution for camping is to stop throwing things in the TV at the last minute.  I find myself walking out the door grabbing a spatula, a spare pair of boots, my book, just about anything I see in my sight as I walk out the door.  I wind up with a ton of loose things in my TV.

What is your camping resolution?  Get to the campsite before dark?  Not to rush out of camp on Sunday?

To camp more...
We managed 3 trips last year, only one with the camper. And the 1st two were way too difficult with DS, so we got the camper and it was MUCH better. We've already got 3 trips planned for this season and will be working on more as the start gets closer!  ;D

I'm hoping to fix the crack on the camper body, install a digital thermostat, get the campground functionality running on the website and CAMP A LOT!  :smore:

Maybe the purchase of a new TV and camper.

Y? Need to see why the back plastic panel is pulling away from the rest of the panel structure on the PUP. Will mount the spare on the front frame for now. Not that I'm ready to buy anything right now. But would be nice to know what I'm going to need.

Other than that, camp every month of the summer. April, May, July are reserved. June and August to reserve.

I think you're probably right... Since no one else put it out there, I figured I would. And we actually made it a "formal" resolution for the year. We're used to having 6-10 camping trips in a season. Then DS was born and we missed the entire 2010 season - I was too tired to do anything other than go to work and sleep while pregnant, then after DS was born neither one of us was getting much sleep. Last season we only got in 3 and 2 were pretty rough. We've got 4 trips on the calendar already and have 2 more in the works. After that, we're gonna see how things go and maybe get in a few more local weekend trips or backyard camping.

Find permanent homes inside pup for basics, instead of moving them around.  Also, a set of cookware JUST for pup.  No more dragging basics to camper from house and back.  Getting my ZEN on BEFORE beginning to pack.  I let my frustration get to me and then I start trip off all huffy and irritated while on the road.  Gotta wrap my mind around the fact that the rest of my family DOES NOT have the same sense of urgency to leave "The World" behind and go camping.

My camping resolution is to come to terms with the fact that this year, I will not be able to go camping as much as I'd like (academic obligations for myself and DS's; also, all of us are busy helping my parents and MIL maintain their homes as well as our own).  We were blessed to camp a lot in 2011 (35 nights with 5 cancelled due to weather) and I need to return to reality; I need to concentrate on appreciating what I can do rather than what I cannot.

Also, special thanks to thingette 1s sister for reminding me of another resolution that I certainly NEED to adopt:

"Gotta wrap my mind around the fact that the rest of my family DOES NOT have the same sense of urgency to leave "The World" behind and go camping."

While DH has the same mindset that I do, DS's (14 & 16) certainly do not - it's hard for me to comprehend, but like thingette 1s sister said, I gotta do it somehow.

Print out the floor plan of your Pup. Label every storage area A-B-C etc. then list all that is in that area. Under cushion A is chairs, fan, sign holder, small tables. B-Hoses, Gray tank, cords, etc
Got the ides from here and it WORKS.

It only works if everyone follows the plan.  It took years for the can opener to consistantly go in the same drawer at home.  I won't mention any names  ::) but DS is only 2 and can't reach the drawer

Do more backpacking. This is something that I used to love but family obligations and work just left little time for it in the last few years.  I will be cocentrating this year on backpacking the AT in Pennsylvania. Have hiked most of the trail from the Lehigh Gap to Swatara Gap but not much on either side of that. I would like to hike the section north of Lehigh Gap to the Delaware River and South of Swatara Gap to the Maryland border. Am also trying to get back into canoe camping with at least one 4 or 5 day trip. Not sure I can pull it off in one season but gives me something to shoot for.

My resolution for this year is to make sure I set 3-4 hours aside each weekend for some quality time with my better half.  I enjoy socializing with everyone as a group by need to make special time for her.  I might have to start going for walks?  😮

Of course it is to get out more. But I might have a couple guy weekends with the boys if DW has to work the weekend.  DW agrees.  I think she wants a weekend of peace and quiet.
