My condolence to the victim's families. This is such a senseless tragedy, and as someone who rents cabins to camp in while our pup is being worked on, I am horrified. I will say, my DH is taking me much more seriously about wearing a respirator and gloves while cleaning out the the camper.
I also read a story recently, about a 7 year old (I believe) that contracted bubonic plague from fleas from a dead squirrel she found (and wanted to bury) while camping. I think we sometimes become complacent about the safety of camping with our children, and give them maybe too much freedom to explore. I will be trying to balance the amount of space I give dd to roam, while keeping these stories in the back of my mind.
