Anyone want to camp 1st weekend of May 2013?  Any suggestions for places you haven't been yet?  We could try a new place. We've Been thinking about RB Winter SP (near Mifflinburg, PA) , or Buttonwood CG(in Mifflintown), or Cowan's Gap SP (Near Chambersburg), or Colonial Woods Fmily CG in Bucks County, Upper Black Eddy, PA

Upper Black Eddy is near Ringing Rocks, isn't it?  It's a pretty neat phenomenon.

Yes it is near ringing rocks. Infact colonial woods is a very nice campground we have beem there a couple of times it is only about 20 25 minutes from our home. There are brothers that one owns colonialwoods and the other owns rining rocks campgeound. Colonial is much better .

I definitely suggest not Ringing Rocks campground.  That was the last place that I tented... that made me never want to tent again.

HVAC1877 is doing his 5th annual rally here in VA at Douthat state park that weekend if you're up for a VA trip. It's a little NW of the I-81/I-64w intersection.

It might be a bit of a hike for you PA folks for just a weekend, though.

We've camped at Buttonwood CG.many years ago.  Nice campground! They have since purchesed the cg across the street and merged them.  They offer a shuttle service for kayakers, they take you to one of 6 stops upstream and you drift/paddle back down to the cg.

We are trying to do as many camping trips this year as we can, but this is the weekend of the MS Walk, so we would not be able to make it.

VA is a bit far, since school is still in session, so we couldn't leave til 3pm at the earliest.

Its a 3 mile walk in Medford Lakes NJ. The big event is the MS ride in September that is 80 miles from Cherry Hill NJ to Ocean City NJ.

Hubby is on call now first weekend, but off May 10-12, so we plan to participate in the KOA camp cares program.  Started new thread here:  https://canvascampers.com/inde.....icseen#new

http://koa.com/national-events.....g-weekend/

KOA is hosting their Camp Cares benefit May 10-12.  Buy Friday night and get Saturday night free.  We are definitely going, just need to pick a CG and make a call!

There are lots of fun activities to raise money for the KOA Camp Cares program, which sponsors kids with cancer for summer camp.  Follow the link above for more information.

We went last year to the Allentown KOA and were treated to a carnival with kids games and prizes on Saturday, Hay rides, and a Rubber Ducky Regatta on the creek with prizes for the winners, and ice cream truck.  The free second night allows you to spend that money on the carnival, hay ride and buying ducky's.  We had a great time.  The campground was full, but the staff and fellow campers were absolutely great!
