I always have a fun time fishing up here. I've come up camping with my kayak buddies a few times and we always manage to catch some decent fish here's a bit of a report from our last trip fishing the upper lake:
I had a great time and the fish definitely cooperated. It started with just Pete, Ron and I on the water a little after 8:00am. Pete caught a Pickerel on his first cast and Ron caught one on his second. And it really never slowed down much. Dale, Marc and Mark joined us after sleeping past their morning wake up call. The weather was great and my arms hurt. I stopped counting after boating 30 fish on Saturday. About 2/3s were pickerel and 1/3 LM bass. Nothing very big, but still lots of fun to catch. I also managed some big blue gills, a sunny, a rock bass, and a calako bass.
I wish I could have spent a little more time socializing with the club, but I had to limit some of my fishing time since I was really a guest visiting some friends. What a great trip. We might have to do it again in the fall!
Mark Z will also be glad to hear that two bears walked past my buddies screen door on Sunday morning (about 10 feet from where I was eating breakfast).

Joe,
RE: Kayak launch permits.
I've been through a couple of the PA state websites and know that we need them, but have been unable to find out if we can buy them at Promised Land and how much and how long they last. We probably will be doing the July rally in PA as well and would like to bring them down for that one too.

Unpowered boats are boats without motors such as certain kayaks, canoes, rowboats, sailboats, rafts or inflatable boats that are used at a Fish & Boat Commission access area or lake, or at Pennsylvania state parks and state forests.
A 1 year launch sticker permit is $10.00 and a 2 year permit is $18.00. They are valid for the calendar year.
They can be purchase online at https://www1.pa.wildlifelicens...../start.php
They can also be purchased at any state park ranger station where a lake/river is in the park.
The park rangers also carry them with them and you can buy them on the waters edge, just carry $10 cash with you.
I need to book a site. Not sure if the wife is on board yet, but i have already planned on fishing Lower Lake that weekend. I'll be bringing my canoe, just won't be launching it in Promised Land Lake.
Either Ill be using my passat wagon or K2500 for portage duty.

The passat usually wins on portage duty. Just imagine how hard it was to get the canoe onto our old K3500 with hitop cap:
