I was up there today with our canoe. Fished the lower lake from 8 to 11 and only had a few hits. Cruised over to the point and checked out everyone's camper/banne. I was driving my 2004 k2500 sub with a green old town guite 147 up top. I had a quick lunch in the truck and headed back south on 390. Who has the reflextixed up pup at the top?
Great weekend, windy but a good time.
Thanks samebutdifferent for hosting the potluck and campfire.
Thanks CampingPhil for hosting the morning coffee
Thanks MarcS and Vik-ing for donating the firewood.
Neekosdad, welcome to your first group rally, I hope you enjoyed yourselves.

Jan and I had a wonderful time.
Thanks to everyone who made this weekend a success.
Great seeing old Friends and making some new ones, we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Pickerel Point .
We need to do a rally here in warmer weather. It's such a beautiful spot.
How come it's always a longer ride home?
Jamie and I had a blast, as always we thought the food was superb! Great to see everyone. Hopefully the next rally will be in warmer weather . All ready started a few small mods that I discovered would help out for the next trips, if and when I finally get to loading pictures on the site I will be sure to share in another topic. PS still puffing out smoke not sure if it is the campfire or the cigar lol
Looks like you all had a great time. I'm thinking of doing a two or three day trip up there in the next month or so. Any suggestions on site number? #168 looks quite nice from that picture! From the looks of it I'm assuming any of these new sites will easily accommodate a 12' Coleman and the full size van used to tow it.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Site 100-117 will tend to be sunnier than the rest. Sites opposite them are nice (174, 173, 168, 167, 166) too and do have shade. Plus all the ones Guitarman mentioned. Just keep in mind that you mostly do not have a direct view of the lake when the trees are in full leaf. Plus, you will have neighbors in the walk in tent sites. They are not right on top of you, but they are your neighbors, mostly down the hill from your own site. We liked it here and will definitely return.
Thanks folks. I did look at the availability and it can be done. My schedule is flexible so I can do a Monday/Tuesday if need be. Proximity to the lake actually has me concerned though. I have a little boy that is the type that should really be kept on a leash...and he loves water.
We stopped at Promise Land a few years ago to scope out some sites for a future trip. This loop was closed for renovation then. We loved it and thought it would be a great family spot within a couple hours of home, but we never made it back. I saw this thread back in April and it's been on my mind ever since.
