It's getting about that time to start planning a spring rally here in the southeast. We had a awesome  Fall Rally in September here in Georgia. The whole group wanted to meet again in the Spring! So come folks, lets show those folks from the north what kind of shin dig we can put on!  :guitar:
Everyone needs to start thinking of a good weekend dates and locations! Once you want to put your two cents worth, chime in on this post. Lets get the ball rolling!  :knuppel2:

Glad to see the ball is rolling again! Thanks, Jimmy, for asking for suggestions for when and where!

Al and I are fairly open to anything after April 12 and forward (with the exception of the May 10-12 weekend). Missnanc, surgipat, and I once talked about starting a rally at West Point Lake on the AL/GA border near LaGrange, GA. It didn't pan out but became the seed for a mini rally in June last year, which then led to the big fall rally we had recently. Amity is one of the COE CGs on West Point Lake and it was very nice when we camped there -- big and decent accommodations. We were able to play cornhole at the back of our site (plenty of room) and also easily launch and beach our kayaks. Micbur camped there before as well and also at Whitetail (I think that's the name).

Amity looks nice, but is over 4.5 hours from me.  not sure how folks feel about Lake Eufala, but they do have some nice CG's so I hear?

I have been waiting for this tread!!!!!! I don't really know any place central for everyone. I do know that Lake Eufala is about 5 1/2 hours from us. But plan it and I will do my best to be there.

Distance to anywhere in Georgia for those out of state might be a problem, but there really isn't a "middle" unless we meet in the Macon area. I have never camped at Lake Tobesofke, but it looks like mid-state.  One thing they do not allow is "outside appliances."  Guess that means you leave your washer and dryer at home!  ;D

As for DH and me, we are headed down to Florida this coming week for a rally. It's a minimum of 6 hours with 2 dogs, so that could extend our arrival time. Just hope we get in before dark.

Folks, we wanted some ideas on where and when, Nothing is set in stone yet. Great Ideas, Lets get some more. We had the last rally at Lake Alatoona because a lot of us was in that area. I think I spoke to 3 other members who stated they could not attend due to ether short notice because of vacation request or to far a distance to travel. I know we won't be able to make everyone happy but we are trying!  😉 I know of about 4 differnt members around me are near the 30501 zip code- Gainesville Ga. area. I am willing to travel to where ever to attend the rally. I feel the first weekend or two in April would be better for me and my family but that is my two cents worth. We all need to recommend dates and locations and get majority agreement. I am not asking everyone to travel 4-8 hours to get there unless you truely want to!  What about camping near Chattanooga Tenn.? They have all kinds of attactions and we might get a few from Tennessee to attend as well!

how about first of April? I recommend the pasture behind our house, 14 acres. I wonder how many campers we could pack in there?

Ok I done the math. If each camper/family had 5000sf to set up and relax on I could accommodate approx. 122 sites. We would all have to boondock though.

Oh, so glad to see the planning has begun!!!  We loved camp Mckinney for the fall rally. Larry is still talking about it, he had so much fun (I got him a cornhole board for Christmas). It wasn't a bad travel for us, only about 2 hours max.  We are ready to "rally party"  when ever ya'll are!

Rachelle and I have been waiting anxiously for this thread to start :jig: We always enjoy camping at Alatoona Lake, but we also don't mind driving further. Since we are now a southeast rally rather then a GA rally mixing up the location each year would be great. It would be great to find about 5 possible campgrounds each with good facilities and have a vote. As for the time frame, we think April would be great. Maybe April-Showers will not be to bad. Lol.

Set the date and I am in!!!  I am in Gainesville, GA 30504 and would like to stay within a about a 3 hour radius.  I will have to take off work so don't want to spend all my time traveling.

Georgia Veteran's State Park in Cordele is right off of I-75 (making travel easy) and has a NICE layout.  Cordele is fairly central to the state, leaning a little further south than not.  It's not too far for me anyway.  ;D  Check out the map and see if it wouldn't be good for Alabama and Florida campers both.

BelchFire, that does look about as midstate as we could get. It also looks like a very nice CG as well. My former minister is from Blackshear and I know he paddles the Okeefenokee "trails" and always spoke highly of the nature and landscape of the area. My DH worked down that way and spent a day at the Andersonville museum. He said it very interesting. The little train ride sounds neat as well.

BTW, our zip code is 30157.

just from the zip codes mentioned, this is a general proximity area
of where everyone is.
