We all played kickball at somepoint in our lives.....usually when we were kids. We all made up rules depending on the shape of the field, age/size of the players, and just to make up a rule. It sounds like some people are interested in playing kickball at the NE Thanksgiving Rally and it got me thinking...
What odd rules did you have as a kid? What cranky old neighbor would yell at you? What was your most glorious moment on the field?
Our rules were 1 roll/1 kick. no 3 strikes. You either kicked it or you didn't....however do-overs were common for any reason we came up with. To get a kid out we would throw the ball at them. We weren't supposed to throw it hard, but we did.
Not in kickball but when we played baseball there was a cranky neighbor who would steal our balls. We played in a park and used a fence as a backstop. Once in awhile a foul ball would go up and back accross a street and be at the curb of this guy's house. He would come out, grab the ball and go back inside and not give it back. My friends father went over there and got the ball back. I don't remember fully what happend, just the guy stealing our baseball.
My most glorious moment in kickball. It was a great one. It was the end of the game. We were in a small gym at the end of a boy scout meeting. I was pitching to a big kid....you know the kind, he could kick it to the outfield and run fast and dodge the ball there was a very real possibility he could score. There was some smack talk. I got ready to roll it....it's coming towards him.....he smiles and goes for a big kick......and the ball hooks hard to the left. He totally whiffed it. He put so much effort into the kick that when he whiffed he fell flat on his butt. We all started laughing hysterically. That was a moment I will always remember.

I think we can play with the kids.....there are only a few little ones we have to make sure we don't trip over. And if we do I think Nathan and Tommy can walk it off.
