Hello all! I married a man who only ever lived in two houses growing up (one in Charles City, Iowa, and one in Nashville, Tennessee). His family did the whole Scouting thing, and traveled quite a bit. DH then joined the air force and never left Andrews AFB/Bolling AFB his entire six years.
Me...I lived in 21 houses by the time I turned 19. Wanderlust flows through my veins....I am always moving the furniture around in the house, even exchanging entire rooms of furniture. (He must REALLY love me) 🙂 We have lived in our cape cod style home since 1997.
We bought "Ruby Slippers" (our 2007 Fleetwood Sequoia) March 2009 so we could more affordably travel (to help satisfy my desire to see what's beyond the bend in the road).
DH works for the county in IT supporting the public safety systems. I am a SAHM and teach our four sons at home, and last September my 81 year old mother with Alzheimer's moved in. (THIS IS HOW I KNOW HE REALLY LOVES ME). We camped and traveled quite a bit before Mom, but now Ruby has been sitting for more than a year.
I know there will be lots of time later to camp, and that's okay... listening to you all here encourages me and helps to ease the frustration (especially when I see the masses exiting the county with all their camping gear behind them each weekend).
I'm grateful to my DH and our four DSs for their unselfish help with Mom. I could not have her at home without them. I'm so proud to see them work as a cohesive unit for Mom.
Thanks for letting me tell a little of what's going on now...I am truly blessed. I don't know of many other men that would have their mother in law live WITH them. And I certainly don't know any other teenagers that would do what my sons do for my mother, WITHOUT complaining and with gentle spirits. Good men they are...I hope someone is rearing daughters worthy of these young men...(don't worry, I WILL NOT be THAT mother in law, guys!!) ;D ;D ;D
I am so grateful and proud. Keep typing out there.....I'm still reading!!!

Welcome and congratulations on what you and your family are doing for your mother. I hope someday one of my children/grandchildren will do the same for me if I need them. I am one of those who doesn't like to move and grew up in the same home for the first 19 yrs of my life and 9 yrs ago my DH bought me that same home and we now live here. My DH is retired USAF after 20 yrs. but he was all over the place. Hope you get your share of camping in when the time is right for it.
