For the last four years we have been doing our camping in a 1986 Westfalia Syncro (4 wheel drive ) VW Vanagon. About a month ago, a very old lady smashed into it, doing about $6k in damages.  I didn't want to go back to camping in a tent for the summer while I am making the repairs and doing some restoration, except when I am backpacking, so I went out and bought a 1987 Combi-Camp Easy tent camper trailer. Only had it a week, and need to give it some TLC before I take it camping in 3 weeks, but I already like it so much that I've decided to keep it once the Westfalia is repaired.  Nothing like having a spare !!  Anyone else out there own a Combi-Camp tent camper? Made in Sweden, and no longer imported to the US, so they don't seem to be very common.

I'm guessing it's like one of the earlier canvas Apaches - tents on wheels.  Very cool.

That is beyond cool!  What kind of repairs did you have to do on it?

That video looks way cool! I'd have like one of those in our tent camping days. 🙂 🙂

Always thought those were pretty cool. We saw one at Cowans Gap SP in Pennsylvania last summer ... first one I spotted in a long time.

Many years ago we had a very basic Coleman that was similar to the Combi.

Hello All

I am new here too. Just bought a 2nd hand combi camp easy. Love it but canvas is in rough shape. It did not come with a few things as well. Missing the matress and curtains but I can sew all that. I am wondering if you can tell me about the cushions that come up into a bench seat. They call it a couch i think. Is there anything that supports the back of the seat? I am wondering how it stays up. I want to make one for our unit if I can but this is puzzling me. I am guessing that it is two long cushions (pieces of foam) that bends in the middle so one comes up as the back and you sit on one for the seat. It also looks like it has an overhang (a piece of material that comes down from the seat to almost the floor.). I am guessing again that this is used to keep the cushions from sliding backwards?

If there is anyone with one of these units or with experience making this stuff could you please let me know and confirm my assumptions?

Thanks so much

Another newbie (first post).

I used to have a 1986 CombiCamp.  I have no clue what model it was, but it did have the "couch".  The back of the seat was supported by the hinge that attached the back to the base.  The hinge had about 90 degrees of travel that would allow it to fold flat or vertical.  There were three cushions.  Two were attached to each other with a fabric hinge as you described.  With the seat up, it made the seat base and seat back.  With the seat down, it unfolded to cover from the end of the bed (the seat folded down) to the end of the other piece of cushion.  The other piece was much larger and went from the front of the camper to where the folded cushion began.  It's really hard to describe.  Do you have the frame for the seat?

We replaced the curtains, cushions, and covers, but we had the originals to go by.

This is a picture of our CombiCamp.  I added the A/C:

The black motorcycle (1995 BMW K1100LT) that's almost in the picture was my primary TV for that camper.  🙂

You should check out the Roll-A-Home (http://www.rollahome.com).  We replaced our Combi with a Roll-A-Home Wide Bed model with two doors, a king size bed, and air conditioning.
