Hello,
I'm a new pop up owner from Central PA about 30 miles NE of the capitol. After a few years of "discussions" with my wife she finally got me to break down a buy a camper. I did get her to compromise as she wanted a regular trailer with full bath & kitchen. Since a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe (2.7l v6) won't tow more than 2200 lbs (w/ trailer brakes) she had no choice. We found a really nice 2005 Coachman Clipper Sport 128 at a dealership. It's nothing fancy but it has a two burner stove, small water storage tank, fridge and heater. Just picked it up this past Thurs and my son and I went on a Scout camping trip Fri-Sun. Found out the the propane burner would not light for the fridge so we went w/o that amenity. Everything else worked fine and got us through the weekend.
A friend pointed me to this site and I have found it useful to find some suggestions for repairing the fridge. I look forward to gaining further knowledge of pop up camping as my family is used to tent camping. I like the fact that there is not quite as much gear to take along and definetly a lot less set up and tear down.
Welcome from Northern NJ. The people here at the canvas are so friendly and helpful. We hope to see you join us at a future rally. There Are a lot of folks from your neck of the woods (PA) so there are usually a lot of rally's in your area. It's such a great way to get out there and camp and have a support system in case you have questions or problems along the way. We are in our second year with the canvas about our 8Th outing with our 1984 viking (Nothing special either) but the kids absolutely love camping ever since i got her. I have learned so much from the people here on the forum in a year that i am almost ready to upgrade. They have inspired me to to fix up and modify my pup to suit all my needs and have given me fantastic advice on how to accomplish it all. It is an incredible to place to learn all about camping, and campers, enjoy the ride! Jonathan
Not sure how close you are to knoebels but our first rally was the September fair and funnel cake 3 years ago. We had a blast. We went to bloomsburg fair and knoebels that weekend. Correct me if I am wrong but the fair Friday night free? And then knoebels you get free tickets for the following may. Hope to see you!
Jennifer
Welcome from Downingtown PA
Viking is right, PA is a very active area for the Canvas Campers group. Mdbaird and I will be running the Halloween Rally in October. I believe Elmira is correct, Friday night is free for the Bloomsburg fair during the Knobels trip.
