My husband and I are interested in renting a popup before we "jump in" and buy one to see if the kids will enjoy it etc. does anyone have any recommendations/advice for starting the camp life by renting?

Hello, Floann, and Welcome to Canvas Campers. 🙂

I see you are in Georgia (like me) and know that Camping World has pop ups (PUPs) for rent. If you have had a chance to see a friend or family member demonstrate a PUP set up, features, and take down, you're ahead of the game. If not, you might want to set up an appointment with a Camping World (or other rental company with PUPs) representative and have them do a demonstration for you. The Camping World in Woodstock (closer to where I live) had a few PUPs on their lot a couple of weeks ago when we were over there, and I believe a few were for rent. Call around and find out. That's about as much help as I can offer right now, but I do hope you get to go out with the family and enjoy camping.

If you do happen to get a camper and want to camp at our Southeast Fall Rally at McKinney Campground on Lake Allatoona (see tab above for rallies), our group can offer lots of help and support to you. We also have a lot of fun, activities for all ages, and rally together twice a year (spring and fall). Come join us!  If you don't get a camper and want to join us for Saturday's events/potluck, please feel free. The folks at the front office of the park will let you in as a guest to our rally, so come on!

There is a campground in mineral bluff that lets you rent pop-up on sight.

Thanks for the information and the invitation to join the Rally. I saw that and it looks like a lot of fun!  I think we are going to Camper World this weekend to see one in action. I have been reading up on the Fleetwood roof issues and I want to be very informed before we buy. I will continue to read up on this site and others so again thanks!!!

hi Floann! welcome to the site...

i'm a big fan of camping world, however, if you want some serious, personal attention, try out Peco Campers in Tucker, GA... they're by stone mountain. that's where we bought ours and we couldn't be more happier with our pup. lots of options have changed over the years, so it all depends on what you want to get into. if you have any questions, you've found the right place to come to for help!  😀
