So I woke up this morning with a swollen right side of my face and a horrible pain/numbness in my mouth and cheek area.
turns out I have an abscessed tooth ( 4th one, top right)
the best part? I can NOT have it pulled/drained/operated on !!!
I am currently on several different medications related to my current broken leg/ankle/surgery status, and the dentist(s) refuse to operate due to the amount of meds/blood thinners I am on !
no novacane, no surgery, no pain relief !
I dont take pain meds anyway if I can help it ( stopped using loritabs and Oxy after 3rd week home from hospital)
Been in the exact same situation about 4 months ago. Dr and Dentist both said double doses of Ibuprofen was ok (up to 600mg 3 times a day) did wonders for the pain. They took me off most of my meds except my Blood Pressure medication for one week, then pulled the tooth with just novocaine.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything that they have! |
so I went to the ER today, because my eye is now swollen shut, and there HAS to be an infection too, as I have had sour stomach and cold sweats all day.
apparently the dentist code down here is m-th 9-4 only! huh?
3.5 hours later in the ER, they tell me " we a re sorry, we do not have any oral surgeons or techs here to help you.
I specifically asked when I signed in if there was one on staff, to which they replied YES...
It sounds like you need some antibiotics. If your stomach is upset from all the pills you could get a shot or IV. Most likely they won't pull a tooth until the infection is gone. As for the pain, if you're already on high dose narcotics there's not much else to do. Most of the pain is coming from the infection. Ibuprofen can be taken to help the inflammation and then the pain. You can take 800mg 3 time a day (2400mg in a 24 hour period).
