What do I do with my son's Christmas Elf while camping this weekend?  Is he supposed to travel with us?  Does he still move at home each night?  We can't touch him or he loses his magic.  Does he send a note?

I don't know what to do!!  What have you done while sleeping somewhere other than your home during the Elf season?

I'd take him with you, easy enough to hide and move around. I always told our kids that we can touch her, just the kids can't.
Or........, you can just leave hime home and move him before you leave so when you get home he is in a different place. This elf does cause quite a dilemma, and is too much stinking work to help the kids behave.

Best Regards,
Norm

As a school bus driver & hearing all the tales of these elves, I am glad that my kids were grown before this came around.
As for the wknd trip, I would take him with you. The tooth fairy visited us on several tent camping trips, so I don't see why the elf wouldn't also.

I'm actually having fun with the elf.  However I just started last weekend.  My Boss and her boss heard me and a coworker talking about wanting to do the elf but they are expensive so we were going to buy them December 26th for next year they went out and got them for us as an early Christmas present.  So I only have to do it for 2 weeks.  I think next year I'll do it with 2 weeks to go as well.  A full month would be a PIA.

I'm seeing the Elf hanging upside down looking into a window (under the awning). He's sneaky like that! Just imagine how many places the Elf could hide while camping. How creative can you be?  😉

Actually, my kids are grown and they have not started yet with the youngest of the kids having the Elf on the Shelf. Knowing the 2-1/2 yr. old twins, they could care less if the Elf was pulled apart in a tug-of-war they would start. It could be horribly and deadly messy for the Elf!  ;D

have him sneak into your son's camping gear the night before you leave.

I think I came up with a solution......My son's elf will go on a camping trip with my nephew's elf at my sisters house.  She can snap a picture and send it to me.
