Looks like a really bad few days for those in the path of the "Frankenstorm" up the coast and inland with the snow up north! Sending prayers for a blanket of protection and safety for all.

We are getting a cold front here in Georgia, and I just about froze my toes off this morning at a dog show! The winds have really picked up and I'm wondering it these are from the hurricane.

Be safe, everyone!

I was just coming on here to see if there was a Frankenstorm topic  🙂

I'm feeling pretty good, I've got candles and flashlights and a lantern in my camping supplies already.  Even if this storm was going to put us out for a few days (and it will likely be only two if anything) I'd be pretty set.

I guess this is one good reason not to keep all the camping supplies in the camper!

I fired up the genny to make sure that works, filled up the RV water tanks, charged the batteries bought some food and water.  Now I just need to pick up some beer and I'll be all set.

I may also get a few zombie killing tools accessible just in case.  Pick ax, sledge hammer, ax, tire iron, etc.

I bought a generator after our 5-day power outage in June due to some other severe storms.  We may not make it through this entirely unscathed, but that should be enough insurance so that we won't lose power and actually need to power it on.  😉

DC is right in the middle of the track at the moment and the winds should be 60-80mph.

Ordered the rv size generator at electric generators direct...free shipping...shipped on Friday, due to the house on Tuesday...fingers crossed.

Trailer holding tanks are full, ice blocks forming in the house freezer, lots of water in buckets, bottles, bins (we have a well - - no electric, no water). The news is saying in NJ that if/when we loose power, expect to be out for 10-14 days !

Let's all say a prayer that it swings east instead of the west that they are all predicting...

My Family in Falls Church, Va has prepared, clean gutters, decks, yards and porches, moved TT and extra vehicles to work, an open parking lot. They have lots of trees, one is a chestnut, they WANT to come down here ::)

Don't forget to fill your bathtubs for extra water for flushing.

Best Regards,

The servers for Canvascampers are in my office in Hammonton, NJ (15 Miles from Atlantic City), so don't be surprised if there are outages.

We will do our best, but all the backup power and generators do not mean anything if the lines for the Internet connections are down (we have Cable and FIOS here).

Hurricane Sandy is planning to visit southern New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania over the next few days, the rain has already started.  I won't be surprised if we have an extensive power outage and the website is unavailable for a period of time.  If this happens, we will be back shortly.

The many people and homes that will be effected by this storm's heavy rain and high winds are my biggest worry right now.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The main priority is for everyone to stay safe.  We got lucky down here on the East Coast of FL.  I guess if there are outages, we will survive!  ;D

Thoughts and prayers go out to those on the East Coast!

On second thought, thoughts and prayers to all of those who've been impacted by weather, regardless if it was 2 hours ago or 2 years ago - I think that our culture of 'immediate media' makes it all too easy to get caught up in the next developing story and forget about what happened in the recent past (and those who still need help and support, even if their event is considered 'old news').

We just got back from camping today, a weekend of rain..  but more fun then working..  We haven't begun to feel any effects of sandy yet... this was just a normal "Idaho" low blowing through, but on the way home we had some of the white fluffy stuff falling..  we should hit the rain from Sandy by Tuesday,,

We went to Craigleith ...  they closed for the season as we were leaving...

Mac, Pinery and Mew Lake are all still open though ...  along with Valens Conservation area (which has a winter camping program starting Jan First.)
