Tornado's ripped through my storage lot and a tree landed on my roof. A few small branches went into the roof.

I do have insurance and I'm taking it to get an estimate for the repair/replacement. The estimate with be submitted to the adjuster and then a settlement with be paid out.

That sucks.  I wish you a speedy repair so you can get out camping again.

As you may have already read in my post from last week: a tree has fallen on my roof (2009 Rockwood Freedom 1910 PU, 10ft box. Worth $5k in mint) and branches punched the roof with some other damage.

I took the PU to a dealer recommended by Rockwood who is a Flagstaff dealer (sister company). They said it needs a new roof ($3k+) and some other things for a total of $3320.50.

Today I got a call and the insurance issued the check to us in the estimate amount $3320.50.

DW and I are not sure if a full replacement of the roof is needed. A patch job would look ugly but we could live with it. A rubber roof would be a $1000+ and an ADCO cover $400+.

I'm pretty handy and could do a not so bad repair myself. And we could also live with that.

The dealer offered $1000 cash for "As is."

Keep in mind this was a gift from our parents and we didn't pay anything for it. They don't  care what we do with it. They want us to take the money and go on a vacation, LOL!

We also have only gone on 2 trips this year since Nov last year. One of the trips was a one night weekday that DW had to take PTO time for.

My truck is also getting up there and it's tough on it too.

Storage is $45 a month (outside).

Should I just get out of the game or keep fighting? Should I sell to do DIY repair looking to get a project PU?

What would you recommend what advise could you give? What would you do?

Thank you, Matthew.

So sorry about your camper. Living in Oklahoma everytime it clouds up I get concerned about our camper.

Maybe you should think about your camper the way we do. There kind of like an air compressor ( 😀 ) . You might own one but never use it but when you need it it is always there. I would hold on to the camper do a "quick fix" and when you and the DW wanna do a getaway it's always there!

Today I took DW to the dealer an she saw it for the first time. She bursted into tears. I guess she did realize how bad it had been. I took another look around and realized myself how bad it was.

We spoke with the dealer and and negotiated a fair price for "as is".

So it's official; the pop up is now gone.

I still have a few extras left over if anyone would be interested in
Brand new stainless steel grill with bag and attachment bracket.
50 Amp 25' heavy extension cord with heavy duty cord. I can post pics this week.
