Has anyone used the video calling Skype software? I here that it's free and safe but wanted others options.

I have quite a few friends and family that use skype. I haven't heard of any safety concerns. Its only free if you are calling another skype user though. If you use it to call landlines, or mobiles then there is a charge. Still quite cheap from what my friends are telling me.
