I'm wondering what I need to do? With the cassette toilet in the PUP it's simple, add chem and go, empty tank at end, repeat. What do I do with the new HTT? I know I need to empty the tank at the end of the trip, but I'm assuming I add some sort of treatment. Please advise, I'm trying to cover all bases before the first outing gets here, soon enough.

prepare the tank by adding at least 3-5 gallons of water. then add the tank additive of your choice. we are very pleased with Odorlos. it has worked well for the past 5 years. some Walmarts carry it.

then don't drain the tank until it is at least 2/3 full. add more water if you have to.
once it's drained, you can use a flush device of some kind. i use a flush wand with a Dual-Flush device attached to the drain outlet.
once you successfully drained and flushed the tank, add back the 3-5 gallons of water and the tank additive.
NEVER leave the black tank empty of water.

i don't always flush the tank after dumping. it takes some extra time and if you're in line at the dump station, you won't be very popular by doing it then.
i usually wait until i have nearly a full tank and no one waiting in line.

don't worry, it takes a long time to fill the black tank. worry more about the gray tank. it fills up way faster.

Thanks, After I posted I was reading MNemet's post about everything water and while some was very obvious to me, I found his opinion of not adding additives at all interesting. I guess I'll have additive on hand and try none and if that doesn't cut it I'll have to dump and add.
