I'm toying around with the the idea of doing a mod to make it easier to drain the water heater.  There are valves already under the camper but not convenient to say the least.  Maybe a visit to Home Depot and I'll post pictures.  Has anyone changed the drains on their water tank, sink, water heater or other plumbing?

I added a hose and valve to my cold water tank on my first camper.

On my second camper I just learned to pump the tank empty before driving away.  Opening the faucet and letting it pump out is easier.  It's the last thing we do before popping down.

My new Flagstaff high wall has an interesting way of handling the drains. Rather that having to go underneath and open the valves, they have these little push/pull knobs mounted on the floor in one of the cabinets in what looks like a T, the bottom of the T is outside. When you push them they open up and the water runs out. No more crawling under or having to make a mod to get to the side.

This is how I modified my hot water tank drain.
This mod will work only on a tank not equipped with an anode rod.

This is something that I'm going to do. I've never wanted that "stored" water in the hot water heater and since the tank is aluminum, Atwood says it doesn't need an anode rod, I'm thinking a valve at the drain plug and at the end of the trip let it flow out, I'll put up some pics when it's done.

You can buy an anode with a drain petcock on it.

Raycfe,
Where would I find that anode? That would be the easiest way to do mine.
Thanks

Thanks for adding yet another mod to my list. 😉

I think I'll end up doing something similar to what RhinoDave did.
