Hi folks,
New to the site and reading old posts....someone mentioned using electric heat in their popup....my hubby has a Little Buddy heater that uses propane bottles.  It provides awesome heat for his fish shanty so we are sure it would do the same in the PUP.  And if you are camping where there isn't electricity, you can still use it.  We have found that making coffee in the morning warms up our small pup.  Have not done cold weather camping, but would like to.

Welcome, Vermontgirl, from NW Georgia where any kind of camper heater this weekend would have been great. It got cold here - finally.

welcome to the site !

as ling as you keep the area vented ( partially open 1 or 2 window flaps) it should work great !

there are those who have their pro/con list for using either or electric or propane.  I have used both.

where in VT are you?  I miss the green mountains and Northern VT for riding and campping.

Moved to AL from Northern NH a couple years ago.

Of course, if there is no "lectricity where you're camping, you can plug in all the heaters you want and still freeze your cajones (or their equivalent) off!!!

BUT, if there is, and you've paid for an electric hookup, why not use it? Why burn your propane?

If you do choose a separate propane-fueled heater, be VERY VERY sure to ventilate properly: open a low vent and a high vent to get a reasonable airflow to vent the CO (carbon monoxide).

And, whether using an electric heater or a propane heater, make sure it's clear of flammables.

We use a buddy heater. I bought a hose and a regulator so I can hook up to a 20lb bottle. I run the hose out the bottom of the canvas and set the 20lb tank on the ground. A word of caution. If you are camping with friends that don't have heat they will turn your gas bottle off so you will have to figure out why your heat went out during the night.

We use both the furnace and ceramic heaters to warm the HTT.  The ceramic heaters don't always keep up and the furnace more than makes up the difference.

Welcome from PA.  Vermont is a nice camping area, I visited the area last year but I was in a hotel, not in the woods.

I have a furnace in my pup but hate to waste my gas so I am with TKnecht with using an electric heater if you have access to electricty!!!  I have camped when it is really cold and used the furnace to get the pup warm and then used the electric heater to keep it there.  Also run the heat strip in my A/C unit to help circulate.  Works great!!!

AND, the electric heater is QUIETER than the propane built-in. MUCH quieter!
