We will be headed back to River bend CG in Hiawassee GA from May 8-12 for our 9 year anniversary and Alana's 1st birthday celebration. Anyone that is up for it should come join us. It's a great CG and we will have a blast. Plenty of DO cooking, campfire time and just pure relaxation.

We would love to, but we can't really get away again until June.  What are you doing then?

Would love to join you (Congratulations!!) but we've got 4 family birthdays to celebrate on May 10 & 11 with the family gathering probably on the 11th or 12th!

(Our twin grands will be 1 year old on the 11th! Time flies!)

Congratulations to all the anniversary folks. May you have many more happy ones!

DH has a weird fascination with Hiawassee and has always wanted to go there.  We are thinking about an August trip.  Is Riverbend CG the place to be?

Kim, this campground is one of the newer campground with full hookup including cable TV. It is off the main highway and next to the Hiawassee River. They do have bath house that is clean and a camp store with Mayfield Ice Cream and a saline pool! Check out the website: http://www.riverbendcamping.com/
At that time of the year, Hiawassee will be busy with some kind of tourist attactions as well at the fair grounds.

Athread678 and I may ride up Saturday and check out the campground and visit.  Y'all planning on being around the campground all day or are you going to make a day trip somewhere?

Yes, We had some great food and fellowship! I wanted to thank Mwowneby and Athread678 for coming by to visit and to see the campground! Ga Judy did jinks us with some rain  :- but for the most part it was very pleasant and nice weather!  🙂 At least it wasn't stormy like Judy gets when she goes camping! This campground is very family oriented. They have a big plans for the family on the 4th of July like fireworks, differnt groups to come in and sing, scavenger hunt and crafts for the kids including a watermelon eating contest. They are booked up for this 4th of July but will take reservations a year in advance! This campground is doing so well, they don't even advertise with a sign on the main road to get you pull in!
Joel, we are sorry you couldn't make it and we understand. Judy, I would have done the same thing, enjoy those birthday parties all you can! I am lucky to say, after I got home, I was walking in my backyard and almost stepped on a copperhead! As I moved moved my shoe away, he struck at the shoe! I found a hole that chopped his head off after I struck his body a few times as he was trying to get away. :knuppel2: Now that was scary folks! I am looking for the next camping adventure! FCJ

Riverbend is a nice campground and Athead678 and I both agree that it would be a good family oriented place to stay.  It was nice to come and see a new campground and visit for a bit.  I hate we had to leave before we got to have some of Fire Captain Jim's tater tot casserole!!  Hopefully he will make some for the Fall rally if we don't get to have some before!!!  I hope Amy is feeling better and that Alana is doing good too!!!  We got back to Riverforks in time for a very small rain shower.  That is the only rain we had for the weekend.  Sunday morning was beautiful and I hated to pack up early but spent the afternoon with my Mom so it was a good reason.

I am looking forward to next weekend when we will be at Mtn Lakes with several other friends.  Praying for dry weather!!!!

Sounds like everyone had a great time in a nice CG. I'm not taking any blame 😉 for any rain although we drove through a few drops on their way to DD's house after we left (dark blue sky and big clouds!). We got our camper out of storage and brought it home to park in front of the house to check for leaks. So far, so good. I think the Eternabond Al put on the front seams did the trick.

Jimmy, we expect to see a new snake skin belt at the Fall Rally! (Glad you weren't bitten! 🙂 ) Oh, yeah - almost forgot. Our other DD and her DH gave me a Dutch Oven cookbook along with a pretty apron on Sunday. I guess we may have to go up to Cummings and visit the Lodge Outlet for some good deals!
