We recently spent 10 days traveling to and from Mammoth Caves. This is a most for everyones list. We spent i day of travel each way, 5 days in Cave City, KY and 3 days in Nicholasville. KY
We said in Pier-Lon Park in Median OH the first and last nights as this was the half way point for us. A very nice park with great staff. A little off the beaten path. Most of the nonseasonal site are in a open area with trees that are maturing.
In Cave City we stayed at Jellystone Park, Now normally i would have avoided places like this. A very clean and well laid out park on the the lay of the land. It is a little hilly but not bad. Some of the best staff i have ever had the pleasure to deal with! The events were enough to keep DD busy and happy when were at camp. The pool was large and cool (low temp 94 high 100). would recommend this park to anyone.
We got caught in one of the storms that tore thru the area. Hail pea and grape sized, torrential rain and high winds. This folded our first up in to a ball  Camper was dry and awning in one piece 🙂 Park staff told us that the storm had dumped just under 3inches of rain
We moved to Camp Nelson RV Park in Lancaster, KY. A small park with 75% permanent residents. We staid "on the river" which was not so much. Met some colorful locals while DW and DD went to Kentucky Horse Park for 2 different days. This could be a gem, but would take some work, We also ran into a fast moving storm here which ripped the awning off the leg.
I had to roll it up in high winds and rain so no more shade .
2 hours of rain in 10 days going to take it. Loosing the First-Up, the awning and having to replace the battery in the TV, i will deal with it. Great Trip with great memories can not wait for the next one!
