Has anyone ever been here? Newburgh KOA
I remember reading about a really awesome KOA in NY that just opened recently, is this the one?
My wife has some friends from work that are campers. We camped with them once a few years ago and then they moved up to Boston. We started talking about meeting 1/2 way to camp and it looks like the Newburgh KOA is 3 hours away for each of us. We haven't figured out when we might do it but it is winter and cold so I'm dreaming about camping in the summer time and where we would go.
It looks to be real nice and clean from the pictures they post....of course they aren't posting the picture of the campsite next the dumpsters, but from what I can see it looks real nice. They also have lots of activities planned it seems. Ok, I'll pay the $56 per night.
They have a $5 per night activity fee which I am not thrilled about. I used to work in Hotels 10 years ago and there was a big lawsuit against Wyndham about extra "fees". This is supposed to cover Pancakes each morning, mini golf, and some moon bounce pillow......OK, I will have a 3 1/2 year old. I'll make use of that.
Not clear if it is included in the $56 or in addition. Kind of rich if it is in addition. I'll have to play 2 rounds of mini-golf to get my monies worth.
So, have you ever been here? Do you have any pictures?

I have been there. spent a week there with the family when i was working in Newburgh.
I do not recall an extra PER DAY usage fee. but this was 3 years ago. back then, any of the GAME type amenities cost money per use. the pool is nice.the fire truck rides are fun too...
the kids enjoyed it, the sites were spacious enough too. we were on the left side, outer loop, closer to the bouncy thing.
you are close to a lot of great things. 15 minutes from OCC, 15 minutes from the mall, 30 minutes to some amazing hiking, rock climbing, state parks, (Hawks nest, The Gunks, etc)
they say the fishing pond is stocked, but we never caught anything there....lol
Matt,
FWIW, A little bit further up there is the Taconic State Park Copake Falls, on the MA, CT, NY border.
There are some water hookups, but no electric.
A really nice state park that we attended a rally at, a couple of years ago.
$15 per night. and the Bash Bish falls are adjacent to the park.
Absolutely gorgeous area.

Lou, That state park sounds nice and reasonably priced. I wouldn't mind camping without electric or water and I have taken DW camping without electric...she didn't know it the first time and when she balked the second time I said "remember that trip when we didn't charge the cell phones and I plugged my CPAP into the jump pack.....that was because we didn't have electric". It was kind of funny seeing her realize it.
However I know my wifes friends won't camp without electric. It is almost like a binky for some campers. They just can't believe they can camp without electric and won't give it up.

I think the additional charge covers all of the little games they have now. It makes sense, almost like an all inclusive place. I just don't like additional charges. They should tack it on to the regular price in my eyes. I liked the fire truck as well and I'm sure my son will :baseballhat: This is going to be a visiting with friends trip, I don't think we will be taking any road trips anywhere. Hopefully they stock the lake just before we get there. Santa brought my son a kiddie fishing pole. We're going to have to take it every time we camp now I'm sure.
