I know there's always a lot of questions about towing, what to tow with, what you can tow with what you got etc.  This article is a bit heavy on math but still worth a read.  The summary is to pay attention to your tongue weight and keep your speeds down and you can get away with a lot, but if you plan on towing at 80 mph you better have a big truck!

LOL!  How appropriate 🙂 🙂

It does make your head hurt.  But it is one of the few articles out there on towing that is actually based on science and not just opinion.

And do you over compensating red blooded Americans also use those gas guzzlers to tow a couple jetskis?  ;D

As I documented elsewhere, when I first started out towing an 8' Coleman with our mid size Audi wagon, the car towed great, in many ways better than the truck, the problem was the pogo stick effect as the camper pivoted on the single axle and bounced the back of the car up and down like mad.  Adjusting tongue weight and putting in Koni sport shocks made it bearable, but the balance on those things just seems to cause lots of bouncing.  The bigger camper does the same thing to the 3/4 ton van, it's just not frightening like it was in the Audi.  It's much smoother to pull a racecar on a trailer that weighs three times as much than it is to tow the Coleman.

This red blooded American uses my truck hauling equipment. I own a landscaping company but the truck sure comes in handy pulling the camper.

Yea It's nice when you can do double duty like that.  My van is my work vehicle and I really wasn't that excited about making it a part time family camping hauler, but it's worked out great and is better than having a big truck sitting just for the sole purpose of pulling the camper.

That is true. If it wasn't for the business I wouldn't have the truck or the "Tugboat" as its affectionately called.

They forgot to mention that here in 'Merica,  we need a bigger truck so that we can hang those scrotums from our hitch without dragging the ground. :))

Now that is something I don't have for my truck. I personally think that is ridiculous.
