After a long trip home from the Rally I realized my "inexpensive" brake controller has issues! Per many comments on many boards I'm looking into a Prodigy P2 or P3 controller. Does any one know if these controllers can be mounted vertically (electric plug down and display up)? and what the operating differences are between the two? I've messaged Tekonesha but have not received a reply. Thanks for any info.
There are 3 big differences between the Prodigy and the Prodigy P2 brake controllers.
[li]The most notable difference is the LED display is blue on the P2 where as it is red on the Prodigy. [/li]
[li]The second difference is that the P2 can be mounted at any angle, a full 360 degrees, where as the Prodigy needs to be between level and 70 degrees nose up. [/li]
[li]The third big difference is that the P2 can be used with electric over hydraulic systems. [/li]
A couple minor changes include some inherited software and technology from the Tekonsha P3, their top-of-the-line controller. The P2 also offers reverse battery protection.
I have the P3 mounting right in the center bottom of the dashboard. Most places mount it at the bottom right above your right leg, but I can't see it or touch it there. I moved it to the center bottom of the dashboard and it at a sharp angle pointed up, about 60 degrees up. Easy to see and reach the manual brake lever.
I love this controller.... once tuned initially, its set it once and forget it.
