The Jeep was getting tired, becoming rather expensive to keep running, and towing the HTT was asking a lot of it.  I have been out looking for a few weeks and came across a deal I couldn't turn down so on Thursday I picked up a 2010 F 150 XLT super crew.  It was a demo with 3600 miles on it.  Rated to tow 9200lbs it should do a much better job of towing my 4400 lb HTT than the Jeep did.

And one of the Jeep looking sad sitting in the trade in lot.  After 150,000 or so good miles I'm going to miss her.

Congrats and condolences.  Trading in a beloved vehicle is almost as bad as losing a pet in my book.

Looks great man, I am sure your going to be pleased!  You don't happen to like red do you? (that deep dark red is one of my favorite colors)

Very nice looking truck Dave - congrats and best of luck with it. Now you won't have to worry about the age of the Jeep and the weight of the HTT.

Thanks guys.  I put about 200 miles on it this weekend running around, I must say it rides and handles better than my Grand Cherokee did.  It also does better on fuel, about 17.3 MPG mixed highway and local.

Dave,
You've been very busy over the last few months.  New hybrid and new truck, very nice.

Congrats Dave.  I have a 2010 XLT as well and think it is awsome.

I'm jealous. Beautiful truck.

We were at the Atlanta auto show this past weekend looking for a new TV. I think we like the older trucks.

Happy towing---->>>

Dave, does your truck have the break controller installed?  Mine did not.  I installed the Ford break controller myself.  It was very easy.  Just a couple screws.  The only catch is you have to go to the dealer to have it activated.  My dealer did it for free.  Works great and looks good in the console.

Thanks Guys.

Yup it has the integrated brake controller.  I'm going to hook up the HTT on saturday and see how it does.

Just to update...

I took it out to the Hickory Run rally last weekend, it towed beautifully - I almost forgot I was towing.

And of course here's a pic of the new setup taken at the PA Welcome Center off Rt 80 just west of the Delaware Water Gap

Very nice looking setup Dave.  What did you get for mileage while towing? Did the Ford do better then the Jeep used to?

Thanks Dawn.  I averaged between 11 and 13.  The Jeep did about 9.
