I've heard that there is a new WDH that has brake like pads so it's not squeaking metal to metal, has one heard of this or have other options for the noise? It sounds like the metal is tearing off the side of the camper.

I think your are talking about the pads you can add to an Equalizer WDH.

These pads sit on the L bracket and do a better job then grease/lube on the bar. Quiets them way down. They are considered a wear item, so you will replace them every few years, but well worth the price.
