When I click on the forums, I generally browse through the sections with new posts by clicking on the ones with a new post icon (brown instead of blue).
I noticed yesterday that there was a recent post by GAJudy in the recent topics listed on the right side of the page, but I had not seen it in one of the sections with the new post icon.
Clicked on it and realized that it was in the general discussion section even though the icon was not showing there were any new posts.
Thought that maybe I had clicked on it and missed the new post.
Today when I opened the forums, there were supposedly no new posts in the general camping discussion section as the icon was blue.
The latest post in that section was this morning though.
Is there a way (on your end) to turn that feature on or off for a given section?
I wonder if it was somehow turned off?
Hate to think I am missing new posts. Lol
The problem generally comes from the fact that more and more browsers are caching the last state of the icon, so just going by the icon at times can be a bit inaccurate.
To make sure you see a list of everything new, click "Unread" on the top left corner by your name. That reads from the database and willl show every new message since that last time you were here.

I have made a minor change in the caching here, that MIGHT help, but in the end the caching of a site is mostly controlled by the browser.
For whats its worth, I never see the issue with Chrome, but do see it with IE 9, an sometimes with IE 8. Firefox changes so much, I stopped trying to keep up.

As moderators, we don't edit posts unless we are fixing a photo, smilie or similiar. If a post goes off topic, we post and try to bring it back.
If a thread is about the 3 Gs or mean to other members, we send a message to those who posted and move the post.
Unlike other forums, we aren't here to micro manage, just keep it friendly and family oriented. There is an option with every post for members to 'report a post' so you can help by keeping it on topic and report a problem.
We have great people here who love camping so it's rare.

Alright, I am really trying not to keep posting on this thread..... Really.
But why was Jamie's post edited when he called me a troublemaker and then my post when I asked him what he really said? I don't think you would have had to fix any smilies (no photos in either reply), and neither of us used any words not allowed here. Well, I know I didn't, lol.
Don't take this as I am trying to start anything, I am definitely not. Just wondering why both posts show as being edited. You could edit every one of my posts, won't bother me. 😀
What are the 3 Gs? God, G......? Usually forums try to stay away from discussions about religion, politics, and any other normally heated topics for obvious reasons.
This IS a great group of people and I have not seen any inappropriate posts. (insert thumbs up icon here)
To help stay on topic, I am usually browsing the forums on an iPad and the browser is Safari. No idea how that plays into the caching part.
Thanks for the help and pointing out the recent post thing.
No problem Ste..... Phil ;D. Just kidding.
I figured that was why you edited mine since my reply was the same as what I had put.
Just so you know though, when you reply with a quote, it does not include the "edited by CampingPhil (at whatever time)" part. I had to go back and copy and paste that so it would show the edit times. Lol
