What do you mean by no legs? Do you mean the bottom of the grill sits right on the ground/table? If so, then I would not grill on the table. Personally I have a small propane grill that has short legs, maybe 4 inches tall. I grill with that on the table all the time.

The legs on my grill are short, keeps it maybe 6 inches off the table. If I am grilling something with lots of sauce or grease to drip, I will Put a sheet of foil on the picnic table and weight it down, then once done fold up and toss. Keeps pesty ants and wasps away. I also have found that on windy days it is necessary to put up something to block the wind, like some of the extra boards I carry for leveling.
