Most times I pre-plan my meals, so pre-pack either stuff to be re-heated, or the ingredients for the recipe. I will put the ingredients in zip lock bags (snack or sandwich size) and then all go into a gallon size bag with the name of the recipe on it. All get packed in the cooler, and many times all ingredients go straight into the refrigerator.
Some times I will shop once I've gotten to the campground, but rarely. Too easy to overbuy or impulse buy.
I buy my food before I go, maybe picking up bread or lunch meat on the day I leave. I use a cooler so I like to freeze meats and other stuff.
DW and I went camping with another couple DW is friends with who had a popup and they had to pick up a few things and beer. The guy was going so I said I'd go for a ride, you know, chat with the guy a bit and let the girls do their thing. It took 2 hours. :banghead:
My philosophy is if I forgot it on this trip, I will remember it next trip.

I'll plan for two meals a day and prep accordingly.
Several days in advance I'll freeze water bottles and juices. I'll also empty the ice maker into 1 gal zip lock bags.
I'll layer the cooler with frozen water bottles and food the morning we leave.
Once at the campsite I can pull food from the cool to put into the pup's fridge. Ice bottles will stay in the cooler to melt for drinking.
The system works well for us.
Plan ahead, pack the non fridge stuff, pack only the amount of cold that we will use. I really hate to have to popup to empty the fridge when we get home. Don't tote a cooler unless it's for a trip longer than a weekend, unless it's going to be hot. Then one gets 20 lbs of ice and drinks.
Invariably, we end up not having what I want to take when I go to pack the PUP. Normally end up running to the store if it's relatively close anyway, so try not to take too much. Will go buy it if we run out.
I used to take bags and bags of food to the CG and my husband finally put his foot down and said "No more" and so now we buy once we arrive and I tell you what I like it alot better 8).....less to haul ( less weight in TV is always a plus) and it is kind of nice to go shopping locally and gives you something to do during the first few days. I do however, ALWAYS take enough food for the first night and the next morning.....don't kid yourself.....you aren't gonna feel like "running to the store" after all the driving, unpacking, etc and those CG stores tend to be high in my opinion so usually I bring something simple like canned soup and sandwiches for the first night.....don't forget your coffee for the next morning either 😉 ....SCmomma
PS I am a FIRM believer in taking things like tin foil, ziplocs, bread, etc that I can get at the dollar store alot cheaper....there isn't always a dollar store near the CG and those items can be sky high in stores >:(.....nothing makes me madder than having to pay $3 for a thing of tinfoil when I can get it at the dollar store for $1 ( yes they sell reynolds at the dollar store....generic foil is too thin/flimsy in my opinion)

It's not the brand, it's the weight. Get heavy duty, otherwise you'll use up twice as much in a hurry.
