Who cooks INSIDE their camper and what?  Are there things that you wouldn't cook inside because of the mess or smell.  We cook most everything outside... mostly on the fire.

I've probably heated water and maybe cooked some scambled eggs once but we don't cook inside.  It's either the grill, stove, giddle or campfire.

My pup has the proverbial "indoor/outdoor" cook stove (low pressure of course) and it is a PIA to tote in and out, plus the performance, especially outdoors, leaves much to be desired - so it stays inside, all the time. For the most part the cooking is done outside on another stove, a Coleman L/P two burner cook stove, which is high pressure. The performance between the two is night and day. Also, if there's going to be cooking spills and splatters, rather that be outside, especially when frying bacon or fish. That Coleman stove I connect via an L/P hose to an extra L/P tank rather than using one of those 16oz disposable canisters.

Now, having said all this ... will still do the 1st morning pot of coffee on the inside stove. Plus firing up the inside stove will take the morning chill out of the interior of the pup. In case the weather takes a turn for the worse and forced inside, will heat-up things like soup or leftovers ... even heat up water for cooking pasta.

Outside: campfire, flat grill, or attached celoni.
Inside: Coffee, mac n cheese, and veges.
Its a "sort of" kitchen.  Why not use it?
I wash greasy stuff outside (bacon), and then dump it down the kitchen sink.
Gray water to the 26gallon tank, and tow it to the dump.

We also have that morning pot of coffee inside. I camp a lot in bear country so not much else is cooked inside.

We have the Coleman propane camp stove and usually set up a kitchen in the screen room away from the popup.

I take the stove outside and cook there under the canopy.  We like to do this if for nothing else the extra counter space.  My wish list for this year is to get a Coleman Grill / stove  to do all of the cooking except for the DO.

the DW does most of the cooking and has mainly cooked inside, in our popups and our HTT.
she prefers that, rather than dealing with bugs, wind and other outside distractions.

We use the coffeemaker inside but cook the rest outside....would hate to burn the PUP to the ground b/c I left something in the oven and headed to take a shower.....it could happen right? 😉

PS I do confess to cooking inside occasionally if it is bad weather outside

Breakfast and coffee inside, everything else outside on the campground's grill; weather dependent.  I just see no need to subject myself to the cold of the morning while trying to start a fire in the pit.
If Apache didn't want me to cook indoors they wouldn't have put that swell stovetop in there for me.

Have done oatmeal in the microwave as well as reheats.  All real cooking is done outside.

Flat grill, single burner, and the side bbq do a majority of the cooking.  I'd be more afraid of fires using the attached BBQ.  I use the single burner outside to perc the coffee.  Inside those burners scramble eggs, and heat up canned veges ect.

DW and I are so much against using any of the appliances inside the PU. We are afraid it will hurt the resale value. We have seen too many used PU with rusty stoves/sinks. We don't use the furnace, the cook top or the extra grill for the outside.  To replace these would be at least $300 per item. The port-a-potti is still in the box.

We do use the sink and refrigerator (electric only). We have a toaster, coffee maker, microwave and a Webber "Baby Q" grill (best grill ever!!!).

My  :chief: Apache is a 78.  I'm not worried about resale and it may yet outlive me.  PLUS, having solid walls makes our clean up fairly easy, should there be a splatter issue.

So, may I ask why the heck did you even purchase your PUP if you aren't going to utilize it?  Is it a hand-me-down? Did you say that the comode is still in the box?? My Thetford is indeed broken in 🙂
Perhaps tent camping would be better suitable and affordable.
I use everything in my 2007 Williamsburg including the add-a-room.

It was a gift from my in-laws not a "purchase". We would have picked something very different. We are keeping our options open for trade or sale to get what we want. The state parks have full bathrooms. That's why ours still looks brand new.

I bought the PUP so I wouldn't have to tote a bunch of gear as I did in tenting days.  I cook inside, wash dishes inside and utilize my PUP as a home on wheels.

I generally use my chicken fryer with a glass lid, cook on low/medium and do not have spatter or odor issues.  In the heat of the summer, I do use an outside table and portable electric oven at times.  I've even brought my deep fryer (which has a charcoal vented lid) and I do use that outside.  But most meals are prepared inside, with no issues.
