When we had our pup, I did all the cooking outside except for microwaving water for tea/coffee, and sometimes used the toaster for breakfast inside. I set up our pup stove on the outside of the camper and did all the cooking under the canopy. Now, we have a hybrid. We only got to take it out on one trip last fall before winter set in. It was pretty cold and rainy that weekend, so I did all the cooking inside. I think since the hybrid has more of a "real" kitchen feel, I'll probably do more inside cooking with it.
I cook everything in my camper. I did the same with both PUs. What is the point in having the appliances if you aren't going to use them. It makes me laugh when people say they don't use their toilet, that it can hurt the resale value. I don't know anyone that doesn't use the toilet in their house, because it will hurt the resale value. What is the difference?
We're also in the "cookk outside club", mainly because of space. With the outside burners and the folding table that we bring, I have more prep space outside the camper then inside. We haven't used the inside stove at all - in fact, we are thinking about removing it this spring and replacing it with a cutting board - for making sandwiches on 😉
We always cooked outside with the PUP, but I'm not sure how it's going to work with the HTT. I defiantly want to be outdoors, but what's the sense of having (paying for) the things indoors and not using them. The PUP, our second, when looking for it had to have a cassette toilet. When Mother nature calls in the middle of the night and DW was pregnant there were not going to be any trips to the CG facilities. Our is certainly broken in and well taken care of. We really have only made Mac and Cheese, coffee, simple things in the PUP. Didn't want food odors in there.
I have no problems using my appliances in my pup. However I usually cook outside 'cause the food is in the cooler in the truck and DS's bottles and stuff are all over the counters. Plus it's not camping unless you are burning some meat over the fire so for dinner it is just easier to be outside while cooking.
