Hi Everyone!

French Creek SP is closed in March so we are going to Spring Gulch... details above.  The upper level has 30a and 50a hookups and not 20a.  If your camper requires 20a, you will need an adapter.  They are sold in their store or can be borrowed from some of us.

$35 per night including resort fee. $70 for the weekend.  The upper bath house will be open with hot showers.

Sorry about the date mix up.  I changed the title to the 24th-26th.

French Creek has been closed twice now in the past few years and it is a major PIA to find a campground open in the winter.  So many campgrounds call themselves "year round" but then you find out they don't have a bath house open and that doesn't work when only a handful of us have/use the bathroom in our campers.  Spring Gulch is one of those "year round" campgrounds but they are opening up the bath house the earliest.....on that weekend of the 24th.

FYI - The dates are the 24th because Spring Gulch will not have bath houses with hot water open until this weekend.  We have a wedding on Saturday so we will be visiting.

I toasted my transmission on the 4 wheel hi tow during the the 2015 spring opener at French creek.     Snow camping memories!

Spring Gulch New Holland might be snowed in as well.  I use a campa pottie in the pup if weather conditions are a problem.

All fixed. I'm off that weekend. And will have my kiddo. So, who's going? I don't want to reserve and be the only one. I want site nearest the bathhouse.

Anyone know if the hot tub will be open? I'm thinking not because it's basically in the pool, but thought I'd ask.

Ugh! Already asked for 17-19 off. Please change title to rally so no one else makes same mistake.

Just an FYI, we moved from French Creek because they are closed.  We moved one weekend because Spring Gulch opens this weekend and not a weekend before.

I haven't even thought of this trip yet.  I'm replacing the floor in my camper in a section so it is torn apart.  However....that isn't my priority.  It is PINEWOOD DERBY time.  Nathan and I are in the final stages of building our car.   :baseballhat:

We were at JoeCampers house the other day weighing our car and Joe knocked it off the scale .....  competition is brutal :knuppel2:

Since it is a much smaller group than in years past, this is the perfect opportunity to amp up the food since we don't have to make as much. ChefPete and I will provide the main protein for Saturday Night dinner? Any suggestions before I turn him loose in the creative kitchen (and in a new trailer to boot).

Since the Mayor's family has obligations and won't be camping at this rally, Peter and I will take care of organizing this event. we are both off on Friday so we can get there pretty early as needed.

The top thread has been updated. As usual, we will need a few tables, a canopy(s) - just in case. Since we don't have a dedicated site, we can use our site or another volunteer.

Per previous note, since this is much smaller group, this is the perfect opportunity to amp up the food a bit since we all don't have to make large quantities. Peter and I will take care of the main protein for dinner on Saturday. Reply if you have some thoughts/preferences/major dislikes/likes, etc before he turns loose in our new kitchen in our new trailer.

Only other thing I can think of is getting firewood to keep us warm.

Phil, Pete,  When you say amp up the food, what do you mean?

-Formal dinner in the woods with table clothes and candles?  Jackets, ties, and dresses optional?
-Steak's for dinner

Phil and Peter, If Jonathan is Bringing some kind of fried rice, how about a chicken/pork or such for it to accompany?  We will have birthday cake to share!  And a fruit type dish too!

We will have a table.  With the wind we have had of late, we will have to use caution with an ez up or even our awnings.

Looks like we are going to have 28 people this trip.  I will be there with Nathan and my BIL will be there with Evan.  Don't know if they will have their own site or not.  They still have to get a brake controller in their TV so I may tow their trailer up and essentially stay with them.

I will bring a table and an EZ up.  I am still thinking about what to bring to the pot luck.

Sides to compliment it is appreciated.

Vik king....please let us know the status of the plowed sites.  I kind of hope that they are not plowed right now and they allow everything to melt naturally.  Maybe plow on Thursday if needed.  Otherwise there will be huge mounds of snow at the back of the sites.

I still plan on going.  I just spend most of the weekend finishing up replacing my camper floor, reinstalling my water tank, HWH, and water pump.  I also dewinterized to get that funky smell out of the water lines.

Joe and Dawn, you cant get like 50 Mountain bikers  to come over and put harnesses on like they do on the dog sleds and pull your camper  out of the snow mound lol, probably not feasible, but sure would be fun to watch, * Hold my beer while we pull this camper out of the snow. or you cold just do what i do and snow blow the lawn all the way to the camper . ( my neighbors think i am mental when they see me snow blowing my  lawn ) lol they might actual be on to something!

The floor and rear bed are all back together.  I have my water system working good and sanitized.  I have 1/2 of my peel and stick floor done.  I'm just about ready to go camping  :)

I am going to try and make pizza muffins in a cardboard box for lunch on Saturday.  I have done them with the boy scouts when I was a kid but not in about 20 years.  Nathan and I are doing a cub scout camping trip the first weekend in May and I will be making them with the kids.  I need to work out some of the details so I don't set a box on fire  :chef:

                      WOOD!

Historically we have a big group and have a cord of wood delivered.  We'll have a smaller group this year, but we'll still need wood.  I can call around and see about getting 1/2 cord of wood delivered if everyone is willing to split the cost (anticipated $10-15/site) or we can each bring our own wood to add to the fire.
LoneLock/Matt will be bringing a good amount of wood, but if that's the only wood and we have a typical fire we won't make it to Saturday night :-)

Thoughts?

1/3 of a cord of wood is what fits in my truck.  5.5 deep by 4 wide by 2 high.  I have more wood at my house that someone can stop by and pick up if they want.  I live about 30 minutes from the campground.

So I was on travel this week to Ft Benning, Georgia. The temps were in the 90's !

While I was gone, my wonderful husband uncovered the trailer and started the prep work, so looks like we're good to go for Friday.

We probably won't be participating in the potluck, due to the weight loss challenge. But we will definitely bring our meal to eat with everyone.

Safe travels, see everyone in a few days.

I would put much more wood in the Toyota if I wasn't towing a 5,000# trailer to camp....I need to be mindful of that.

I have an EZ up and 2 tables as well.  Nathan won't be with me on Friday.  I need to run home Saturday morning to do some errands and pick him up.  I hope to be back at camp by lunch.

We will need to figure out whose site would be the "community site" for fire and food. Maybe I can talk them into "giving" us a gathering site for real cheap.

The campground is fine with using a site to gather.  It is there opening weekend and they will be very slow.

FYI - the campground does not currently have ice but it is available within 3 miles of the campground.
Chester County Beverage, 5802 W Lincoln Hwy, Parkesburg, PA 19365 sells ice, 8 lbs for $1.75, 40 lbs for $5.50

There is firewood .9 mile from the campground, 1/2 cord for $100.  $12-$15 per site

I just booked site 1545.  It will just be Evan and l for the maiden voyage (at least for the Burkeys).  Karen will be in Europe and Sabrina has indoor guard all day Saturday.  See you sometime Saturday morning. It will take us a little while to get packed up and going.  Evan would like for us to contribute rice pilaf, but it looks like rice might be covered already.  Maybe some cooked vegetables (garlic roasted cauliflower anyone??)

We are bringing Stauffer's veggie lasagna. As this will be our maiden voyage with this trailer, I think we will be spending most of our time learning our way around, so I decided to make the dinner as easy as possible.

I will bring Pasta with Clam sauce.  I don't like linguini so I usually use a different noodle.

Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday afternoon.  We bought DIET COOKIES. They have zero calories...if you don't eat them.

The Honey Glazed Carrots and the Roasted Cauliflower sound delicious.  Can't wait to have those with the other great dishes and the chicken wings!

It was great seeing everyone again.  I needed that camping fix.  The weather was beautiful and I always like spring gulch.  I don't think I have ever had a bad site or experience there.

We agree!! Boy did I need the smell of a campfire.  We were really sorry to have to leave, although the cold damp Sunday morning helped us get over that....LOL
