Somerset Popup Lines Go into Full Production
« on: December 16, 2012, 08:43:01 AM »
Columbia Northwest Inc./Aliner, Mt. Pleasant, Pa., has gone into full production with its traditional Somerset Grand Tour folding camping trailer and Evolution, the companion off-road version. ”Last year at the Louisville Show we were displaying prototypes,” said Alan Reeping, director of sales and marketing. Somerset Grand Tour, Evolution and luxury Highlander brands offer the most popular floorplans of the former Coleman camping trailers built by Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. and later by FTCA Inc., which closed shop in late 2010. For 2013 one new 10-foot floorplan has been added to the Grand Tour and Evolution lines. All Somerset popups are built with tubular steel frames and galvanized steel sidewalls. The off-road Evolution, with black sidewalls and diamond plate accents, has a heavier suspension, larger wheels and greater ground clearance. All Somersets have either two king- or king/double-bed extensions. The new 10-foot Grand Tour model retails for $11,000; its off-road counterpart for $12,000.

They build these about ten miles away from my parents house. The website says they give tours of the factory Monday to Thursday at 2pm. We are thinking of checking it out while we are out there.

We were tempted to stop in Somerset on our way from Cedar Point to Gettysburg last week, unfortunately, time wouldn't let us.
