One very important part of camping for DW is that the bathroom are decent.

    [li]Is that important to you?[/li]
[li]Do you find them pretty clean?[/li]
[li]Have you research the bathrooms before booking?[/li]
[li]Do you tell others in you have a bad experience?[/li]

My wife is the same. More so for the showers and one thing I noticed from my camping years is the difference between campground and campground resort. When it has resort 2 things are very likely, you will pay more per night but will have a 25% to 60% raise in quilty of the bathrooms and things to do.
She sucks it up now but years ago she wouldnt ha ha
Keep the wife happy and take her to a campground resort for a few. Then take her to a state campground and let her know how good she has it. he he

And yes I tell everyone when I have a very bad experience. But im not talking weather related im only talking campground owners to just dont give a rats *** other than taking your money.

Hope this helps!

that's why we upgraded to a hybrid, from years of popuping. the DW doesn't have to worry about the CG's bathroom condition, cause we have a nice one in the trailer. Momma's happy, so i'm happy! 😉

I too appreciate a clean well functioning bathhouse.  My first night I use the CG shower, and the rest of the time i use my Pup shower, if I've got a full hookup site.  I use my PU potty during the night, but will use the CG's during the day if needed.

Yes
Yes
Hell yes
You betcha

I read as many reviews online that I can to get some sort of idea on the bathroom situation where we are interested in visiting/camping. Cleanliness and location are the two big main factors. With a wife and 2 DD's(4&2) if they aren't happy, than I'm not happy.

Best Regards,
Norm

It's a consideration for us, but not a total deal-breaker since we have our Hybrid.  However, I agree with others that the condition of the bathrooms tend to align with the general condition of the parks.

In the interest of sharing, I've noticed that VA state parks seem to universally have well-kept bathrooms.  They also have a different layout than most other state parks I've visited, containing a small laundry area, M&W bathrooms (just toilets and sinks), and four unisex showers one of which is accessible.  I have yet to find one that I consider "bad", all of them have been good or great.  Rocky Gap SP in MD had a nice bath house in the Ash loop with a separate unisex family/accessible bathroom+shower.

I'll be honest - the thing that I love most about returning home from a camping trip is returning to my own bathroom that has only been used (a more specific term would be 'contaminated' as my DH and DS's are total slobs who think they are immune to germs) by my own family members.

That said, bathroom cleanliness doesn't influence my choice of campgrounds.  I certainly DO like to know what to expect so that I can act accordingly (for example, who hasn't learned that an ample supply of toilet paper isn't something that should be taken for granted?)

Bathrooms that have obvious mess definitely gross me out, yet things can appear 'clean' but be seething with germs.  I unfortunately know this firsthand as my mother has obsessive-compulsive disorder; her version of 'orderly/clutter-free' takes precedence over disinfection.  Specifically, her kitchen - and house - looks like it's nothing other than medically sterile.  Unfortunately, this extends to her storage cabinets/closets; the desire for eliminating 'clutter' means, to her, eliminating anything other than a wet rag.  She wipes 24/7.  The house appears clean; yet germ-wise, it's disgusting.  This sickness isn't the point of my post.

The point is, I can't help but thinking of this when I visit restrooms that appear to be sparkling clean.  A person could pick up trash and spray the bathroom with a high-pressure water hose; it might not look much different than a bathroom that's been disinfected.

What really makes me mad are the people who make the mess in the first place.  I've been in ladies' rooms where people are too lazy to throw their monthly product mess into the trash, don't clean up the mess that their children make (such as leaving poo on toilet seats),  leaving price tags from clothing stuck changing room walls or floors, leaving mats of hair on countertops, wads of spit-up mucus in sinks).

It makes me angry that these people seem to have no consideration for the people who have to clean up after them.  Yes, people are paid to clean up, but, IMHO, that is no excuse to lazily leave your mess for another human to pick up.  I realize I'm using a cliche here, but it seems like some people have an inflated sense of entitlement.

Morally it doesn't sit well with me to leave a mess and think "oh well, someone is getting a percentage of my campground fee to pick this up so it's ok".

One could pick up all this/ stuff but still leave residual germs from the poo and spit.  It can look clean but be anything but.

Sorry to get sidetracked.

I agree that it's really pleasing to have bathrooms that look sparkling clean; I just personally think that there's no way to ever know how well they've been disinfected unless you accompany the cleaning staff.
