Do anyone ever just go camping alone?  It's not an ideal plan but sometime need to get away and it's still a great time.

Yes, every now and then DW lets me go out and play.

Once in a while I'm solo with the camper, but generally camping with at least a few people.  When I do go camping on my own it's usually somewhere I can't drive the pop up to so the tent comes out of the garage with the old backpacking gear, once in a while it's nice to sleep on the ground again.

I have camped alone quite a few times, mostly one nighters and it's always great to get away.  :tease: Sometimes you just need a break from the crazy world we live in.

I'm pretty sure my kids would change the locks if i ever pulled out without them. The dog would probably have me for dinner.

I've done it once, mostly because my kids had other plans for that weekend (friends' birthday parties, I think) where my presence wasn't necessary.  Otherwise, I'd probably be in the same boat as Full Circle.

I have a hunting lease just 5 miles down the road from the house and I camp there a lot. The DW doesn't consider it camping because it's too close to the house! There is also a WMA about 30 miles away that I camp at also. These are the only two places I have been able to sneak off to by myself.

If the word camping is said to loudly at my house everyone stops what they are doing and starts asking questions like: where, how long, when are we leaving, can we leave now! That's not to mention the dog going wild and running in circles and jumping up and down!

We are lucky to have both, a popup for getaway camping, and a small travel trailer on a seasonal permanent site in mountains of PA. So if I want to sneak away alone, I head to the mountains as all I have to do is stop for food on the way up, then light a few oil lanterns once I get there.

All our popup camping is social, so we tend to popup camp with large groups.

I've done so quite a few times.  There have been times where I've taken a long road trip having to lay over a couple of nights going and coming back ... but did meet up with the fishing crew once I got there where we did "circle the wagons".  Plus there are a couple (or more) of great trout streams in NC's western mountains where I've been know to take off for and stay four or five days by myself.

Certainly would prefer a camping/fishing companion along ... depending on just who it is ... otherwise would rather do so alone.

I try to go on a solo outing or two every year. I do enjoy the solitude at first, but any more than two nights, it can get a little boring in my opinion. The nice thing is, you can do everything at your own pace and do not have to worry about what others want to do.

The first 15 years I camped were alone, in the Sierras. I used to go every chance I got, sometimes twice a month.  Then a friend started to go with me. Now the last 10 years a third friend has joined the group. I still prefer to be alone, but old age and medical problems has slowed me down. I'm planning a solo trip in the near future to see if I can still do it.

I often go alone. The wife pulls the boat down to the campground, stays a while and then goes home and leaves me there by myself. Sometimes I keep a dog or two with me and sometimes it's just me.

I do from time to time. Most of the time I go to campground
and set everything up and my wife joins me the next day after work. Its hard to get out schedules to match most of the time.

Had to go out of town for some training and lodging was left to myself.  So i hook up the camper and found a county park within 6 miles of the training facility.  sleep like a baby in my own bed!

I enjoy the alone time but I can also take my Cousin who helps set up/break down and still have alone time. She will read while I hike and we share quiet times or we can gab and giggle the whole time, just depends.  8)

Many times I start out alone, get set up and friends/family join me.  I do like a few days to rest/relax, go where and when I want to, and not be accountable to anyone.

But, I do like to share camping experience with my family.

I've done that a couple times. Used to be early or off on Fridays and get set up and DW is there Saturday morning.
