Did you buy the optima. Does it work with regular smart chargers. Thought about them before but my interstate is still going strong.

I have been following this also.
I will have to buy a battery in May. There doesn't seem to be many people who actually own an Optima. I don't know if I should go for the blue top or the standard interstate.

I have not ordered a new battery yet.  I'm hoping to open the camper once the temps get above 40 and calculate my electric usage for each power item.  Then beside on what changes I can make and what size battery to order.  I have a large group 31 on it now but the charge doesn't last long.  :-

I cleared 17" of snow off the camper today so it will be a few weeks.

I don't think I have ever seen 17 inches of snow down here. 🙂

Yeah, my parents called me from Florida to let me know it's 78 degrees and they might turn some fans on if it gets any warmer.  17" is even to deep for snow angels.

The price makes the decision easier, but I've considered a Blue Top.
My concern is discharge state or how much they can be discharged.
For deep cycle the 50% rule applies for best economy.
The biggest blue top has less capacity than a group 24 but that could be made up if higher discharge is acceptable.

What about voltage versus state of charge, is it the same as a wet battery? I know the blue tops are fully charged at 13.1V.

I thought about an Optima but said, technology changes every year and 5 years from now regular batteries will be better so I went with  a Energizer Deep Cycle battery from Sam's Club.  I can buy 2-3 of them for the price of an Optima, and in 5 years when it is dead, technology will improve.
