Does anyone take a second vehicle while camping? Next week we are going to a local state park 30miles away for a few days, now my 12yr old asked if he can bring a friend which is ok with me, I was thinking to ease crowding in the tow vehicle 2 adults 3 preen teen boys, we would take our second vehicle to ease crowding. Anyone else have to do this?

We also do that. I have the more flexible schedule so at times I can take the camper to its location and have it all set up, then my partner shows up later with the food and others staying with us.

We do it when we camp local. I tow the camper and the DW, who always runs late, takes her car.  And if necessary, she'll bring the boat.

We haven't yet, but we will be in July.  We're going camping 1.5 hours away and we've got my DS, his friend, and our Bernese Mountain dog going along.  With all of the stuff we'll be taking, there won't be room for everything in the truck (regular cab).  So, I think I'll drive the dog in the truck with me...that ought to cut down on the number of "are we there yets" for the trip significantly!!!!!

We just did it this past weekend.  We went to Raccoon Creek SP but my wife had to work Friday night so she drove up on Saturday with the dogs.

We did so occasionally.  When I was "being retired" I would often take the truck and camper out early Friday.  DW would still be at work and meet me at the SP Friday PM directly from work.
If it works for you, do it.

DW and I did it last year with our 1 year old son.  The farthest we stayed was about 45 minutes away.  It was easier for me to go and set up and then for her to show up an hour later.  This way she didn't have to sit on the picnic table and entertain our son while I set up.

We usually have 2 vehicles.  Some PA parks are very strict with their 1 car parking on site.  Most parks offer extra car parking lots.  Some PA parks you can pay a small fee to keep 2 cars on site.

We do the 2 car thing almost all the time now. Extra room for a camping guest and the bikes.
