I just tried to drive away with my chains hooked 3 days ago...

Here's one: Know where you're going. Too many people towing their rigs get into spots they cant get out of. Alongside this goes: Know how to turn around in limited space, even if it means unhooking and rehooking (which is how I drove away with my chains hooked lol)

Only realizing after you get on the freeway that you forgot to fold the step in on the trailer

I have more than one time forgotten to lower the antenna back into the down position. The first time that happened I thought everyone was overly friendly. People were waving and pointing like crazy.
I have also forgotten to put the steps back into position.

Oh, I did the same thing as Kit and the no-exit round-about at a fast food drive-thru in Columbus, GA, only there was no drive-thru. 😀 Maneuvering with those 17-point turns is pretty interesting, especially when there are cars packed helter skelter in the lot. I got it done though and parked in a lot across the street hoping when we went in for lunch at the fast food place that no one recognized us.

Worst mistake, maybe not that common, was on our old PUP where DH forgot to remove the screen door before popping down. Cables all collapsed/broke, tropical storm started blowing/raining, and the PUP was finally folded down to within 2 inches of closing. We had to drive many miles to a Walmart to buy winch straps and pray the pelting rain did not soak the interior. We sold that camper a few months later to get the easier-to-set up/take down TrailManor.

Drove away from the house with the PUP electric still plugged in - thankfully the plug uncoupled before any real damage was done  ;D

2 towing accidents,  left rear storage door opened, and killed 3 batteries prematurely.

My list would be very long, but the highlights:

- forgot the keys to the camper and used an ice chest to step over the door for the weekend.
- ran out of propane and the blower just blew cold air all night.
- forget the key to my tongue so I drove away and left the hitch attached for the weekend.
- left clothes at home more than once.
- shampoo opened all over my clothes (should have just left them at home)
- forgot pillows and slept on a rolled up sweatshirt.
- drove over many wheel chocks
- didn't stack down my awning and it blew over the roof... more than once.

Almost forgot: I've closed the trailer with the roof vent open like 4 times, and would have done it 3 more if people nearby hadn't reminded me what a dope I am

ROO you should install a fantastic fan with vent cover.  Then you wouldn't have to worry about leavin it open.

I thought about some kind of computer fan mod, that's when I realized I couldn't find anything for the Pal. Didn't want to rip out the old vent without a replacement in line...

Did the dreaded "pop up wheelie" once in camp drive way. Forgot to put the rear stabilizers down, walked into the camper and went towards the back and up came the front end. Luckily I was able to move quickly enough to get it back down and didn't cause any damage.
Also drove away once with the tongue jack not tightened in the up position and it slid down. Got a few blocks away before I realized it. Didn't damage the jack but it did a number on the little wheel.

I know others have left something on their roof and opened the popup?  Maybe a flashlight or cold beer.

IAPoppers, you reminded me of the other two SPUTs we did -- the wheelie and leaving the wheel on the jack. There were so many while we were learning that I had forgotten (and we only camped 3 times in our NTU PUP before selling it for the TrailManor).  😀 😮
