Do you have a camping routine that your neighbors notice?  Air out the sleeping bags, rinse the coolers, pull the camper into the driveway or open it up the weekend before you leave?  Apparently my routine is to mow my lawn on Thursday instead of Friday after work.  I mowed my lawn yesterday (Thursday) and afterwards I went over and talked with my neighbor since he was in his driveway.  He said "So where are you going this weekend?  I know when you fire up your lawn tractor on Thursday that you are camping and want to hit the road early after work on Friday"  I found that funny but true....usually.  I'm actually going on a bike ride today (Friday) after work and very busy this weekend with Honey Do's so I wanted to get the lawn out of the way.

Our neighbors, school bus drivers, garbage collectors, and any regular delivery trucks know we are going camping because we bring the TrailManor out of our storage garage at a friend's and have to park it in front of the sloping yard of our house. We live on a steep hill and cannot bring the TM up the driveway, so it sits in the street for a couple of days where everyone sees it.  I would rather we could keep it at the house and leave it in the driveway to do all sorts of prep and clean up work on it, but that only happened with our old PUP. We also have a neighbor with a TT and they do the same when they're going camping. At least we're on a dead end street that ends in a cul-de-sac and isn't the focus of main traffic. (I do worry that people will know we are away even with an alarm system and light timers.)

I agree Judy!

When we get ready to go camping we pull the pup out into the driveway and pull all of the camping gear out as well. The coolers get washed and then come inside to be loaded which DH loads the camper and truck. We live in a very old section of town and our neighbors tend to keep to themselves, but I'm sure they notice. I'm always thinking that this "routine" might as well be a big sign in the yard that says "hey, we won't be home for the next few days".

Oh well, guess I'm just being paranoid  😮

For those reasons alone, my answer would be "I hope not!"  We have great neighbors, but it's not the neighbors that concern me; it's the random people that may be riding by.

Fortunately, we can keep the camper in the back yard where it isn't visible to anyone BUT the neighbors.  And we always tell them anyway so they can keep an eye out and occasionally feed the cat for us.  SOO glad I don't live in Atlanta anymore.......

I have to use the neighbors drive to get the camper in and out of the yard, so I tell him. Also if I think we might have rain and wet grass on the day I leave I park the camper a few feet from his driveway so the front wheels can grip in 4WD

We have an HTT that is kept in the back yard. It is noticeable when it's gone so I'm sure the neighbors know when we are gone. That said, we have 2 German shepherds  that are not really good when camping, so they stay home. We either have someone stay with them or check on them a few times a day depending on the length of our outing. I'm pretty comfortable with their ability to hold down the fort. My thought is if I were a burglar and came to my house and heard these two dogs I would move on to an easier target.

That's funny, Matt. No, we don't have any routines. Our neighbors just know when the trailer is missing from the lawn. BTW, have you ridden the Chester Valley Trail yet?

I posted this not to scare people into thinking they are letting the world know they aren't home.  I just found it funny that apparently I mow my lawn on Thursday instead of Friday when I'm camping and my neighbor noticed it.

Yak, I guess your neighbors know when you are going when you drive down their driveway with it  ;D

I just realized I have another routine that my neighbors can notice.  Starting Sunday night before I go camping I start charging my batteries to make sure they are 100% when I leave on Friday.  Currently I have the hood up on my RV with a battery tender on my Deep Cycle battery.  When I get home it will probably be charged and then I'll switch it to the battery for the motor.  Tomorrow when I get home I'll then plug the RV in so I can get the fridge going and start loading it.

We don't really have a routine that comes to mind. Our TT stays parked beside my shop so I would guess when someone passing by sees it gone they assume we are gone. We live out in the "country" so I don't even think most people knows we are gone.
