With the new camper, I'm trying to streamline the setup process and either permanently install things or find homes for them.  Rather than setting up tacky string lights, I'm going to install LED flat rope lights.  Since they are dimmable and can color changing, I'm thinking about 1 set on each side of the awning, facing each other. (camper side and outside awning side).

Target stores had them for $85 and lower the price 50% after Christmas. (my two local Target's had none)  🙁 The GF stopped by a Target near her work and scored big time.  😉 They rang up at $24 each and I got 4 sets.

I'm going to order double sided 3M automotive tape from Amazon to install them.  Finish pictures coming soon.

You may run into the same problem I had. Those exterior rated LED strips are usually encased is a silicone sleeve. Nothing will stick to it including 3M molding tape.

Storm Trooper gets the credit for finding these.  LIGHTSTRIP It comes with a polycarbonate U channel that the LED strip more or less snaps into and the 3M tape sticks to the channel like crazy. It also makes for a clean and straight install. The downfall is white only. My neice and nephew liked the color change strips I bought from EBAY to try so I have a strip of those mounted under the white strip below my awning tube on the HTT. I used 4" pieces of the polycarbonate channel to mount the 2nd color strip as I know at some point I'll be removing it but again the 3M would not stick to the strip itself. You can go insane buying and comparing these LED strips. I have found $100 ones that appear to be the same as $20 Ebay Chinese ones. Its a real crapshoot. The ones in the link above that Stormtrooper found appear to be top quality but time will tell.

Congrats on the new camper by the way......its awesome.

The one I bought had the 3M attached. Just had to pull the backing. I was more worried about the 3M holding to the aluminum strip location I chose. I cleaned it extremely well with iso alcohol before setting it on though. I'm sure over time UV and temp changes will cause it to fail eventually.
