We just bought our first kayak.  Where do we go to get it licensed/ registered?  Do we have to?

It is considered a boat and needs to be registered. You can go to http://fishandboat.com/bragent.htm to find an authorized agent. Go that route rather than just mailing in your registration because it can take a better part of a month to get the registration. I believe the cost is $18 for 2 years.

Happy Kayaking, we hope to be getting ours soon.

In Florida we do not have to register our kayaks unless it has a motor on it.

Here in PA it's an unpowered boat launch permit. You need it for state run launches. The fee is $10 for one year and $18 for two. You can purchase it online at                                " The Outdoor Shop" / Promise land Ranger station sells them also.

Ours are inflatable Sea Eagles. How would I screw in the license tags?  😀

(In Georgia, we do not have to license kayaks.)

Would I need to purchase one of those launch permits if I am camping in PA?
We might bring our kayaks when we head to the rally at Prince Gallitzon state park in July.

I would ask at the camp ground when you check in. I've heard that if a Ranger stops you, you can buy a sticker from him or her. Keep $10 in your yak.

Just buy one at ranger station. The check in station may also have one, or the camp store. Prince Gallitzen has a guarded gate for the campground and a camp store too.

Judy, we have a Sea Eagle also. The permits are stickers, but since our yak is an inflatable, we keep the permit in a ziploc baggie, which was said to be okay to do, by a ranger.

What he said:  When you take it to a PA state park, buy a sticker at the ranger station, $18 for 2 years.  They will ask the make, model, length and color.  There is no other paperwork if you don't have a motor on it.

Where are the pictures?

I get a fish and boat Non-Powered Permit.  Allows use in All states, and has authority over a state park launch permit.
