Don't you have a family member who works on RVs?  😉 :-X

I've got to get new tires for the truck, new brakes for the camper and a bazillion other things for my Apache camper round up in CA in June.

We're in the market for new tires for the camper. The only thing is I'd like to get radials, but can't seem to find "D" load rated ones - - anyone know if they make this load rating in radials?

Also - anyone know performance differences between bias ply and radials? We think the radials disipate heat better, but aren't sure. Comments would be appreciated  🙂

I had to make an emergency tire acquisition when I went to San Antonio TX from NC last year.  Northern Tool + Equipment had what I needed on the shelf at a decent price.

Thanks Phil !  I was online looking at etrailer and looked for the ST185/80 13 ... do you know if it will make a difference ST185 vs ST175? I'm not sure what that number means.

Not sure, but etrailers.com has a great staff, I have called them many times and their staff is very knowledgeable.

The difference is the height of the sidewall which would be a -.32 inch in height, width -.39. Circumference would change as well about -1.98.

Best Regards,

thanks guys - I'll have to give it some more thought.

We are heading on a long trip this summer (5000 miles or so) and I want to carry 2 spares. Last time we did this trip we had a near side-wall blow out of one of the tires. It took hours to find tire place (including RV dealers) who had a tire that would work. Although we were carrying a spare, I was nervous about traveling the remaining 800 miles home with no spare on board. Figured I'd carry 2 this time, knowing if you have the "emergency" prepared for, chances are you won't need it  🙂

Here's a link to a site to show you the difference.

Try to get tires thought a NATIONAL or International Chain with ROAD HAZARD/WARRANTY that has a full service shops near most of the places you visit. (Can fix most flats for free - and get tires quickly if need be)

ie:

Fountain Tire/GoodYear

Canadian Tire

Also consider get Road Side Service membership like AAA or CAA that covers trailer/RV and long-distance towing.
