Its too cheap to NOT get it. In Canada its CHEAP - really cheap! I think I pay less than 50/year. Even if my cheap trailer (originality purchased for $300) gets into an issue - I will be able to get it replaced or fixed. It WILL cost 1000s to replace.
After all - I painted it, purchased new canvas, converted everything to LED, New flooring (CARPET!), rebuilt the lift system, new gas hoses, and put all my stuff into it. I have over 2500 invested in a 30 year old camper!
As someone else said it's too cheap not to have. We had an old 1976 Coachman TT that we stored on the premises of our timeshare campground. After a particularly bad winter where lots of trees fell and roofs caved in from heavy snow I purchased insurance as I didn't have the money to replace it. Fast forward 10 years and we had a roof vent fail. Don't know how long it was open, but the insurance company totaled the camper. We paid $2500 for it, used it about 10 years and got $2500 when it was totaled. Not a bad deal at all.
The insurance we had on the pup cost us about $200 per year, but covered replacement value, trip cancellation (due to trailer accident), lodging (up to 3 days), pet transportation if needed (assuming both pup and tv were right off's) It also covered up too $5000 worth of stuff carried in/on the pup, if parked on a seasonal lot, covered up to two 8x8 out buildings, deck and outside furnishings on registered site.. Also had over $1 million coverage for damage that may be caused to others if my pup burned to the ground..
I have the same coverage on the TT and should soon find out the cost of that insurance as the annual renewl is coming due in another couple weeks...

The insurance we had on the pup cost us about $200 per year, but covered replacement value,
this was our biggest deciding factors! replacement value, ( and contents) AND roadside assistance needs!
yes it is a 2000 model, but to sufficiently replace it would cost 3-4 times what it is worth.
we made that very clear in our search for insurance, and only found a few that handle it that way. very happy paying 225/year for full coverage needs !

Interesting thread here...my camper is covered by my HO policy while it sits at my house..Covered by my auto policy while being towed.. I understand it is not covered at any other place or time. But NADA has mine listed for so low a value I wonder if it is even worth it
You may want to double check your auto policy. Your camper is likely covered for liability in the event it disconnects and takes a route of its own ... etc. In Texas, pup policies cover only comp and collision. All liability is assigned to the tow vehicle. May not be the same in your state, but worth a check, I think.
I just did a lot of checking on lots of variables, and found Progressive Direct (online) to be cheap and easy. About $125 for a $250 c&c deductible policy with vacation insurance and "replacement value" total loss coverage, plus $5,000 in personal effects loss. Our homeowners and auto are with different carriers that gave me a bunch of flak on the pup. The picture above says it all..
