Fabric color and air conditioning is about it.  Why don't campers have options at the factory or dealer level?  Upgrades.

Better thermostat - $70
Drawers rather then doors - $150
Nicer rims or tires - $100
Awning lights - $125
Electric tongue jack? - $250

I know some of these options are available but rarely suggested or sold.  Were you offered upgrades when you bought your camper?

hybrid campers often have lots of options.
slide toppers, electric tongue jacks, electric stabilizers, aluminum wheels, cabinet wood type/color, tv's, night shades, 15k a/c, frameless windows, heated holding tanks, sliding storage tray, outside speakers, stainless steel appliances, power awning, thermopane windows, heated mattresses, Fantastic Fan, tinted safety glass, outside grill/worktable to name some of them.

I think if you order a new camper you can ask for specific options. If you buy one from a dealers lot they are usually as built. I'm sure a dealer would be willing to swap out some things like thermostat, awning, tongue jacks etc, at a cost of course.

I second what bikendan said.  We bought our hybrid off the lot, actually at the show, & it came with more options than I would have chosen. The only available option at the time that it didn't have was stainless steel appliances. Some of the options were aluminum wheels, AC, raised panel cabinet & fridge doors, sliding storage tray, water purifier, slide topper, outside grill, oven & microwave, etc.

Well most manufacturers randomly build units with the "easiest to sell" options. Meaning, if they included every option, it might be hard to "upsell" these items to some folks. As money is always an issue. Customers price shop everything these days.

Now understand, you can special order a unit from any dealer with whatever options you want/dont want. IMO you are better off to do that anyway. It is amazing how these RVs just fall apart sitting on the sale lot. -- Only disadvantage to special order is price. Most (if not every) dealers will negotiate prices on "in-stock" inventory units. Hardly any (if any) dealer will fudge pricing on special orders, because they already have it sold "to you".

I think it is because they are built in an assembly line fashion. I have watched videos of TT being built and they tend to build multiple a day. TT's are all kits. They are built one after another as fast as they can build them. If they built them all to an individuals liking they would take much longer to build and therefore all the units would cost more money. However, I am sure someone could go to the manufacturer and special order any popup, TT or drivable camper any way they wished with any option they could dream up. It would cost extra for everything including the base price of the unit. If you have HGTV or the Travel channel, they have shows call "Extreme RV's" among other shows. Just My thoughts and opinions.
