Guys, if I wanted to attempt to extend my reservation and arrive Wed 6-25 how would I go about that? Would I call the number on the confirmation or is that something you guys need to do since you set up all the reservations?

Thanks

I havent been to blackwater falls since i was a kid. On my bucket list to return. However prior commitments this year holds me back if repeated again next. Count me in.  Watch that hair pin turn at exit 99 off I 79. It,s a doosey if your unfamiliar with it!  Have fun everyone!!!!!

Thanks, called them and we'll now be there sometime early on the evening of Wed 6-25. We were already taking a vaca day on Thursday so why waste a sitting around the fire opportunity?

If anyone else calls to extend, talk to Cathy. She will take your payment info instead of charging the additional to the card that is on file for all the reservations.

Is anyone planning on partaking in any of the local activities? Train ride, whitewater, cave tour?

I'd really like to head on down to Cass railroad except they do not allow dogs so that will have to be some other time. May still head down there just to look around but no train ride, will be too hot by then to leave Shadow in the truck.

Hello everyone. Haven't been on much for the past month.
My oldest DD got married last weekend in Las Vegas. 🙂
What a party.....
Thanks to Joe for covering for me while I was not here.

Chiefbowes, Friday would be the only day we could plan something with the group.
My pick would have been the cass railroad, but I wasn't aware they didn't allow dogs.

Congratulations, Lou. Our DD had a Las Vegas wedding a few yrs. back on New Year's Day! What a weekend - and no camper but a real hotel. 😀

Keep in mind that Cass 2+ hrs  south of BWF. You can always do a Mountain Rail Adventure out of Elkins, an hr drive

Greenbriar and Durbin? I didn't realize Cass was over 2 hours away from BWF, thought it was a little closer.
In any case I think I still have the pet problem, I couldn't find out if dogs are alllowed one way or another on the Greenbriar and Durbin website, but I'd bet they are not.

Greenbriar and Durbin is cool in its own right, but Cass is the one to go to if you've never been there before, and you are any sort of a train person. Its not on my must do list as its fairly close to home.

JoeT, what is the WV State Parks policy on Firewood? They do not have the usual warnings and rules and other BS you typically find on State Park websites everywhere else. I couldnt find one thing even mentioning Firewood and I read the entire WV State Park regs the other day.

FYI: BICYCLE SAFETY: Helmet law

Anyone age 15 and under must wear a helmet when riding a bicycle on the park as directed by WV State Law.

So what your saying is we need a helmet for Joe if he decides to race again?

Amanda and Dylan will have their bikes, not sure if we are bringing ours as they are road bikes and not much use at campgrounds.

Mike, we will have our three. If you and Diane want to ride, I'm sure you would fit ours.

Old Geezer, we take wood from home, never been a problem. I don't recall seeing any signage /verbage that says otherwise.
Check the Cheat River Salamader. its a cool train ride through some total wilderness, and a lot closer to Cannan Valley than Cass or Durbin. Durbin is about 40 minutes SE of Elkins on US 250.

old_geezer,
You gave me a great idea.  😉 😉 😉 😉
Since Gilligan is the Park super, I think our potluck theme ought to be a Castaways Luau.
As our fearless Mayor likes to say "it's five o'clock somewhere".
Tropical dinner and beverages. Hmm.
How does that sound?

We'll be bringing pineapples and watermelon and pulled pork for the luau.....
